hi i'm new to the beardie world and i'm wondering about my tank placement. With the tank in the living room will it be too much noise and movement when he needs to get rest after hours. I sometimes don't go to bed till 11-12 clock and I don't want to disturb him. I have a spare room where I could move the tank so the light and noises don't wake him up after 8 clock. Am i being overly cautious or should he get his own room of the house.

thanks
Walt

I also have 1 of my dragon's out in the living room with us and when it comes night time they (I have 2) like to cuddle up in their I call them nap bags (just a fabric I've made into like a sleeping bag) and when their lights go out at 9pm I put them back into their tanks under their logs.. Izzy isn't bothered by the tv/lights as we don't go to bed 10-11pm I think Izzy likes to be out here watching whats going on..

Overly cautious I'm sure he likes being in the action . Make it dark over his eyes hell sleep fine. It makes me sad to think of them in a quiet room. They're social.

Oh ok, that's good to know cause I like to have him watching me while I walk around the house. I think I just read too much into lights on at night messing with their 3rd eye.

I fold a pillowcase and put my Hef in and he'll fall asleep on my chest and then I put him in his house he sleeps great and likes to be nuzzled into his pillowcase.

As long as the light is not shining over their head they should be okay. You will need to assess the situation. If your beardie is sleeping a lot during the day or real grumpy, it could be because they aren't getting enough sleep. We have a reptile/game room. When their lights go out the tv is on and a small dim table lamp and they sleep right through it. I also have frogs that have a red light in their tank that is across the room from the beardies and they have been okay with it. Their tank itself is dark.

Just to add my experiences; Odin is in my bed room/living room (studio apt...NY is ridiculous....) but anyways; at 9pm his lights go out; and I turn off all room lights for him. only lights on is TV / computer; but he just shoves his face into a crack in the rock wall and luls off to sleep....only time he's woken up was when I move him from warm to cool side at night; underneath the CHE on his hammock....

My odin is a lazy plop....he will do what ever it is that needs to be done; when it is time....he poops where ever he may be at.....he sleeps where ever he is at that time....just a plopper....

I set my light timers to go off late since i usually go to bed between 11:30pm-1am. His main heat lamp shuts off around 11 and the rest of the lights shut off at midnight. The order reverses in the morning starting around 10am to 11 am.

I put a towel over the Viv once spyros lights go out. But I could take him out and pet him and he wouldn't wake up.

I think it's fine.

Is Draeju up before his lights go on in the morning? wondering how he adjusts being that you want to mimic normal daytime/nighttime hours..

No...he usually doesn't slink out of his hiding spot until almost an hour after the first lights come on. Then he slowly makes his ascend up to his basking spot in time for the heat lamp to turn on. His enclosure is on the west side of my home in the living room, so it doesnt get too bright in there until later in the afternoon. My aquarium lights (in same room) also shut off around midnight, and turn on around 3 pm. I like to enjoy my aquariums/viv at night when i'm home the most and am active around the house. It doesnt take the critters long at all to adjust to predetermined day/night hrs.

Im sure your dragon would prefer to be outside where he can see things. They are so social and curious. These guys generally sleep really well. I wouldn't worry unless he starts getting grumpy.
