Hello everyone. I just acquired an 8 week old little hypo girl yesterday. I'm a bit worried cause she hasn't eaten the past 2 days. The temps are all good, I got her in a 20 long, got an 18 inch Zoo Med reptisun uvb tube. Got her basking light. I've soaked her and she drank and seems pretty mellow. In her cage she is pretty active. Does the wall dance on the front and side and like to spread out under her hammock or sit on her basking rock. I've tried feeding her the greens and the size crickets the breeder was feeding her. My concern is how long is a safe amount of time they can go without food as a baby?

Welcome to Bearded Dragon Forum!

There really isn't a definitive amount of time they can go with eating. Just keep offering crickets, and greens every day. Your new baby will eat eventually. What you described sounds like classic relocation stress. It's just what they do when they're moved, it's introduced to a new environment. She'll eat when she's ready. Pictures, and a good description of the enclosure will help the community in giving any husbandry advice, too.

Hello and welcome to BDF. Sean is correct. Give your beardie some time. Usually about 1 week to 10 days is a good acclimation period. I have learned that beardies pretty much know what they need. Keep her enclosure simple without a lot of frills. Good luck and come back with questions and concerns. :)

Thanks all. Well good news, I put in about a dozen crickets and she ate them. She seems to like to eat in private but I did catch her grabbing one.

Oh yes....there are beardies that like to eat in private and mine is one of those. Not a big deal. Even if I peak around the corner to watch him he will see me out of the corner of his eye and quit eating....go figure!! And....I have never seen my beardie poop. :)

Oh mine isn't shy about pooping. I've seen her poop 3 times now, 1 of those times on my finger just before she scooted up onto my wrist to spread out haha.
