He will eats some greens I was told to wet them with Organic low suger Apple juice and he has been eating more of the greens i just wanted to ask if that was OK.

hes cute, I believe apple juice is okay? If im wrong someone will correct me, ur veggies are a tad big in my opinion, im shure he can still scoff them down, can u list what veggies he’s getting? I see carrot? And a leafy green? you can put some b.s.f.l on his salad, they’re a good staple feeder id order some, he really should be getting around 80% bugs and the rest salad, but please do keep up the salads, u can put bee pollen in it (it’ll give it a buggy smell) , may we see more pics of your setup and the lil dude?

That was an older picture he is bigger now andIi do cut the veggies smaller. I have given him Collard Greens, Dandelion Greens, Mustard Greens and Endive. the orange stuff was not Carrots it was Butternut Squash. The picture attached is current I just changed his floor from carpet to tile it is way better for keeping clean. Thanks for your advise.

I like his setup, i hope he does too, if i may , what kind of bulbs do you have in ur hoods? Please if you have a coil bulb they are very bad for beardies, if u can offer a dish cloth and rub it on your clean body to get ur scent on it your baby will better be acostumed to handling (they love soft things ik its weird)

He loves his home like i said he is growing like crazy is in his 3rd shed in 7 weeks. He don't mind being handled his waste is like clock work once a day in the late afternoon. the Tube light is a Reptisun 5.0 UVB (18 inch) also has another one in front is a light that came with the setup it is a Coil UVB but i know they are not great so i added the Florescent tube light as the primary. The 2 highest points for basking the temps are 110 deg and and about 104. At floor level the hot side is 92 deg and the cool side about 82 deg. all temps i measure with a hand help IR gun.

Thanks

Hey, your set up looks nice! I notice a few digital probe thermometers but they are placed high up. Do you move these? If not, you should keep one directly on his basking spot under the UVA heat bulb so you can get the exact basking temps - x

Ok, sounds good! Just be aware when using the IR Guns on surfaces like the hammock, it may be inaccurate. It might be worth pulling one of those digital probe ones you have a little longer so it can rest on the hammock - if you’re able to :)

If there is a coil bulb in there that needs to go (they cause eye problems and will probably blind your beardy) , im confused if u have one in there or not .-. ,have you got a name for your little lizard?

Sorry, I didn’t see this post before replying before! In regards to the coil bulb, you should remove that completely, not only are they inadequate they can also cause eye damage as Sky Bug said :) But you would then need to switch your tube light to a ReptiSun 10.0 rather than the 5.0! Your UVB tube light should be around the length of 70% of your enclosure. And whether it is a T5 or a T8 will depend on how far it should be from the basking spot. Is the top of your enclosure mesh? Are you able to add a pic of it? x

He is in a 36" x 18" x 18" tank the tube light covers 60% of his enclosure but the way he is growing i am already looking at 48" x 24" x 24" tanks and will switch to a 36" light with a Arcadia 12 D3 bulb inside the tank. Tank i am looking at is

Carolina Custom Cages Terrarium, Tall Extra-Long Deep 48Lx24Dx24H, Easy Assembly

Since I see no heath issues at this time and plan to get the new setup by April i will remove the coil bulb but i think the UV strip light seems fine. i have attached a image of the mess top. The new internal light fixture in the new tank is a 36" tube light with 2 Halogen power plugs for heat lamps are there any issues with Halogen bulbs?

From what I know (which again, there may be someone who can advise better as I haven’t been a beardie owner for long - just done a lot of reading) halogen bulbs are good - but they are stronger than regular bulbs so you may need a lower wattage, you will know if it’s sufficient by measuring the temp under it on the basking spot etc. In regards to the 5.0 vs the 10.0 I was under the impression that the 5.0 is more for tropical reptiles rather than desert and it is potentially not strong enough - especially if it’s above the tank on top of the mesh and the mesh blocks quite a bit of UVB. I’m not sure if you were saying that you have that UVB strip light inside or on top - if on top it may be at least best to place it inside from now to increase the UVB rays. If you’re changing it up and upgrading in April it could all be ok until then but obvs that’s not my call - beardies are renowned for acting like everything is all good until they reach a point they are suddenly really unwell. I’m not saying your beardie is on that road to ill health or what you have isn’t sufficient for now but that’s just a little bit of info regarding what I’ve read on the topics etc! Hopefully someone else can add further into who has more experience - x

Just a heads up in case you’re still worried many beardies don’t like eating veggies at all when their babies. When my beardie was a baby he refused to touch his greens no matter which ones I gave him and no truck worked from organic juices to bee pollen or anything. So he basically was on a full protein diet until he finally started eating his veggies at around 7 months old. So while it’s great that he’s eating some veggies (which is definitely a hard thing to get in my household ) don’t be too worried if he’s not eating a lot of them, he’ll definitely eat more when he’s older.

The 5.0 bulb is ok and you can use it but I would recommend you swap it out for a Reptisun 10.0 T 8 it's more for reptiles- also take the clear plastic cover off the hood/ fixture and place it in the tank--- the T 8's are not strong enough to go thru screen-- distance should be 6-8 inches directly above the basking decor
