A week ago today my daughter got a baby bearded dragon from petsmart. I don't let her care for him/her alone. In fact I do most of it. I understand new animals in general need an adjustment period. However, I cannot get this one interested in any kind of food: crickets or meal worms. When I put the food in the tank he just lays there, shutting his eyes and showing no interest. I even put the container of crickets next to the tank to see if he would be interested and he ended up turning around. Temps are good. I put the lights on at around 8 and wait an hour or so and the temp is 97 in the hot spot and 77 in the cool spot. There is also the uvb light as well. When he does get up he seems to have good strength in his limbs and can easily move on all fours but typically is laying down.

Could you post a picture of the enclosure? It may be a husbandry issue. The basking spot temp is good. How big is the enclosure?

I can a bit later. We are dealing with a possible covid situation, so I can't go into the room but I can have my daughter take pictures later when she gets home. He's in a 20 gallon tank. We do not have tube lighting. There are two clamp lights for the uvb and uva. I did just read something about tube lighting being better so am getting on that.

Hello, and welcome to the forum, your temps for the basking spot are low, babies like it hot, 100-110, do you have digital probe thermometers? And for uvb ive attached pictures, uvb is the MOST important thing, i have the zoomed fixture, but the arcadia is a good brand too.

Please tell me what your using for a UVB NO coils please --- basking temps should be 105-110 taken w/a digital probe thermometer --- those things I have asked about are the TWO MOST important things in the tank -- they control the over all health and behavior of the dragon -- they will go thru relocation stress so the eating will be off but you must have correct temps and lighting to keep him eating -- if he stops there is a issue
