Ok everyone when do you all trim your dragon's nails?? Any suggestions/tips on doing so? Was thinking it would be easier to do when Izzy is sleeping but she is still aware of her feet being touched..

I've done Dexter's before but only because she sits very still and her nails are clear so I can see the quick. I can't even attempt to do Luci's.

I used a nail clipper and just clipped the very tip. You'll see it's small before it goes into the rest of the nail, you just want to get that part. Have a septic stick on hand just in case you clip too much. Giving them rough stuff to climb on helps file them down. You can even try to file them yourself with a nail file. I did that once with Dexter and she looked at me like I was crazy!

Yea just like the cats is what I was thinking just think it will be easiest if she's asleep...all I know is her nails are getting pretty pointy and I am starting to feel them thru my shirt. Her nails are clear with a black line and I can see the quick so, but I'll have to add in some more rougher items. The nail file is a good idea I do that after I trim the dogs nails...Will have to see what she lets me do :)

I used a nail file on my girl Bella when I first got her her nails were quite long. It took a while because she would only let me do a few strokes on a single nail at a time. I found that going in one direction was less bothersome. She did get used to it so it went faster up to a certain point. I was afraid I would cut off too much. the file worked

Success!! Got some stink eye's from Izzy but while my friend was over this afternoon she held her while I trimmed..Dang her nails are soo tiny but long :) Very glad I didn't over cut hard to see those little nails :) next time I'm going to try nail file after seeing how small they are that might go quicker not to mention safer for all.
