Hi just a quick question Rango is my first reptile so I'm still learning, do you cut/file bd nails ? I've read some people do just the very tips & some don't, we have had Rango for six months, I know his previous owners had wooden floors so may have helped with keeping them at a good length but we have carpet. Any advice would be great....thanks :)

I've always been afraid to cut their nails. I have some slate tiles in their tanks that seem to help keep them filed down a bit.

I prefer Pat's method of putting in slate or other rough surface to help them file their own nails! ;) Lower maintenance and less chance of my hurting them!

Well yeah and then theres also the fact that they use their nails to help them climb and hang onto things (like your shirt!). When i got Bella she had been clipped to the quick - i felt so bad for her. She just couldnt hold on. She was always afraid of falling (not that i would let that happen in a hot minute). Shes got more confidence now

Ok cool....I'll leave him as he is & provide him with some slate....I wouldn't want to hurt the little guy & he loves to climb....thanks for your comments :)

Hi I just clip then very ends you know they too long because the black part over grows past the white part which contains all the nerves and blood supply so do not clip the white part. Stones:rocks or sand paper in bottom tank really help
