I will post a photo of him when I first brought him home and then of him now. He is as spoiled as a Reptile can possibly be and friendly as can be. He is 3yrs old now
Thank you!! Beardiebaby, they vary in growth just like Beardies. They do not grow quite as fast as a BD though and are much harder to keep and much more cost involved due to the equipment needed to keep them up. Ozzie has screen very large habitat with an automatic water mister built into it. They are usually full grown in 1-2 yrs depending on the care and housing quality. I would say the average size Veil Chameleon gets to 2 foot. They are very slow moving. The only time I have seen Ozzie get fast is when he is outside and sees a tree and then it is on.... They're color changes with mood or illness just like a Beardie. They shoot their tounge at their insect to catch it and they love melon, and strawberries. Very interesting reptile to keep. My next one will for sure be a Panther Chameleon of some sort. I love the Nosey B's.
Wow, that is awesome!!!! How many pets do you have in total? I have 3 cats and 1 bearded dragon. I wish I could have more but I am not even supposed to have this many in my apartment haha!
Well I own my own home so I have 4 dogs ( 3 Chihuahuas and a shihtzu) all females. 1 Veil Chameleon ( Male) and 1 Bearded Dragon ( Male) and 3 Parrots ( 2 males and 1 female) so a total of 9 pets and oh does a spoiled husband count as work also? LOL!
Automatic Mister!! It is a must have and I recommend Aquazamp Brand. He ships super fast and I have had mine for 3yrs and never had a problem. I cup fed Ozzie to make sure he got his insects since he was so small. You can keep Chameleons in a glass habitat no matter what anyone says. In your neck of the woods one would probably do better in a glass habitat. No need to start out small just get what size he would need when grown. Get him use to being handled while he is young. I handled Ozzie everyday ALOT and he never got stressed and ate even when sitting on my finger. I recommend Exo Terra Habitats or if you keep it warm enough like me then get the biggest screen habitat you can find. I will take a photo of Ozzies setup to show you. Congrats you are in for a treat owning a Chameleon. I love watching them eat
Here is Ozzie's home. We went to Hobby Lobby and got the plastic that you can cover over furniture and cut it to fit and vecro it on. It helps keep the heat in and water from splashing on the floor. I also bought the extra drip tray when I bought his screen habitat, well worth it to get the drip pan...never no water on the floor due to the Automatic Mister Oh and it is 24x24x48
Ozzie&Dino; Thanks soo much and yes, i am cup feeding and he's eating great. Yesterday i purchased a 24-24-48-screen cage for him. The only thing left i have to purchase is his mister and a set of lights for a larger cage.He is in a 16-16-30-for now until he gets a little bigger. How do you adminster his calcium needs??I have read a lot of info on them but i always like to hear from owners lol-much more expeirence.I bought mine here in Canada and where could i get a drip tray for him?? If not in Canada i will just make a home made one that i have saw. His humidity and temps are all good and i mist him 3-times a day and that seems to keep everything good. I am already in love with the little guy whom i call 2-Step. I just love the way he doe's a little 2-step when going to where he wants to. And i also love to watch him eat.And i do cup feed him twice a day and the breeder only fed him once a day but he is a baby so i feel he should be fed more.It has been suggested to give calcium without d-3-daily dusting and with d-3 twice monthy along with his vitiamins twice monthly=true or not true??Sorry for questions but i do like to hear from owners. And his temps are at 88% and he seems quite comformtable and no panting just good for him and he basks a lot, of the day except when eating lol-he loves his food.Thank You for any and all info-I really appreciate any and all help needed to keep my little guy healthy. River-7-aka-Bella-Sorry i am using a 5.0 uvb bulb and a house bulb for his heating.Thank You for the link-i will deff; read it. I also discovered he likes warm water mistings and he sits there and enjoys it. The breeder told me room temps and he was frightened and ran away but since i use warm water he really enjoys it and don't run away. And he is not frightened of me.
