Went to my first ever reptile expo 2 days ago and was going to get my first ever bearded dragon. I got a female hypo leatherback dunner and my little sister got a male hypo trans normal beardy. I love them with all my heart and as of now, they are in a 10 gallon tank but soon will be moved to a bigger 24×18×12 exo terra tank. Female's name is Ellie and the male's name is Phoenix.

The first photo is Ellie. Second photo is there little home. And third photo is Phoenix.

1 question, can my infrared heating bulb be on 24/7. My friend who has a couple of reptiles including a silkback deardy says yea but I worry for my babies.

Very cute babies! Beardies need complete darkness at night. They will not sleep even if it is a red bulb. If you can see the light, they can too. I suggest you invest in a ceramic heat emitter(produces heat and no light) but be sure to put it on a dimmer as they get hot!

Your saying I was keeping them from sleeping :'(. I will for sure buy one ASAP.

Welcome to the forum, they are adorable! Dragonwagon is correct, the red light at night can interrupt their sleep cycle. The only reason you would need heat at night is if the temp in the tank drops below 65 degrees. Also, they are cute and I'm sure they are climbing all over each other at the moment, but you should really keep them in separate tanks. Bearded dragons are solitary creatures and keeping them together is risking one of them getting injured.

Ok I will turn them off at night. I'm pretty sure it doesn't get below 65. And okay fine :(, if I have to seperate them then I will.

Haha I know it must be hard to separate them. They look so cute when they climb all over each other and such, but rather than being friendly they are showing dominance towards each other, which ultimately causes unnecessary stress. Sounds like your dragons are healthy and happy:)

Welcome! They are adorable -- and yes, unfortunately is much better to have them separated.I know it is a bummer -- but you sound like you definitely love them already and will be a great owner!

Don't take it so hard. Dragons are pretty forgiving and not one of us was born knowing how to do this.

Those little ones are adorable. Just remember that they're going to eat. And eat. And eat. As a brand new dragon owner, I can almost guarantee that you're not getting enough bugs (yet). I strongly advise you to find an online seller of crickets, dubia roaches, or whatever and buy in bulk. Your budget will thank you because the pet store bugs are expensive.

Oh yes I know :). At the expo I got 100 dubia roaches for 5 bucks and 100 Phoenix worm for 4 bucks I think. I do have a source to get bulk food from an online supplier who has a colony of them. Also I do have kale in their viv everyday and make sure its always fresh and not dried up.

Welcome to the forums!

Lots of good advice here. I agree about separating them. Don't worry, they aren't going to miss each other and you're doing them a favor that they'll appreciate more than being forced to occupy the same tank. Any tank will do, you can get the front opening one if that's convenient for you, but any long 40 gallon+ tank will work for each of them. Longer and wider is better than taller, to give them the most space they can use (they don't need height as much as walking space). You don't want to go smaller than a 40 because you want enough distance to have both a hot basking side and a cool side so they can regulate their body temp.
