I recently got a pet grant and added a young bearded dragon to my classroom. I'm not sure what is going on and our local vets do not treat reptiles. Any help would be appreciated as I will have some very upset students if he/she doesn't make it! Is it mouth rot? yellow fungus? How would you treat it? What is causing it?

I'm sorry he/she so sick!:(
I think a exotic vet would be a very good thing, even if they are far away.
I'm pretty sure it's mouth rot. It looks like he/she's got a will.. What's been happening with eating?:bd: I don't know very much about these things and I hope and I'm sure others will give you some more advice.:)
Here are some resources I found:
http://www.beardeddragons.co.za/mouth-rot-in-bearded-dragons/
http://beautifuldragons.com/Mouthrot.html

http://www.bug-de-lite.com/ccp8/
You can email the bug-de-lite people and ask what they might have for treating mouth rot or yellow fungus (I'm pretty sure it's mouth rot, but I don't know for sure.)
I wish you luck and the best outcome for you and your beautiful bearded dragon!!

I would try to find an exotic vet, they will do a through look in the mouth and do a gram stain to check for bacteria.

This looks like what my girl has (only this is more aggressive than hers). They can get granulation tissue, it's similar to when we bite the inside of our cheek. It's very slow healing and with my girl, she always has it. Sometimes it's worse than others. While looking for an exotic vet you can get some Chlorhexidine (I get mine from bearded dragon.co) dilute it with spring water until it looks like a sky blue color then use a q-tip to clean the infected area.

Thank you everyone. It’s somewhat better but still some granulation. She eats well and is active. I will try the chlorhexidine! We don’t have an exotic vet within 50 miles
