It seems as though Mugen's 3+ month old spaying stitches are bleeding a bit. Not gushing blood but a drop or so every couple of minutes. The blood looks like it has a bit of pus. Almost looks like when you pop a pimple and how the blood has a whitish tint to it. She doesn't seem to notice it nor does she seem in pain. I cleaned it with a bit of peroxide and was wondering if "liquid band aid" would be ok to put on the pin hole sized cut? I haven't the slightest idea how it opened or even if she coincidentally cut herself. She's been on nothing hard. She's always on the couch or a blanket or doggie bed. She hasn't been to the park either since it's so cold. I was thinking maybe she had an ingrown hair and it got slightly infected and popped which is why there was a lil pus and blood? Her hair is growing back in that spot which is why I thought that.

the stitches aren't what they used to be. The synthetic version doesn't always readily absorb.
you remember the "cat gut" type stitches. Made from actual tissue and would be absorbed by the body in time. The synthetic version has some type of plasticity to it. It doesn't always break down.

Check her scar. You'll probably find a very small scab, or possibly one of those "pimple" places. I bet it's got a stitch in there. Depending on how deep it is, is whether or not you can grab it with tweezers. It should pull straight out if you can. If you feel a tug, STOP. If you don't see any, might have to have the vet take a look again.

Thanks Gina. That is exactly what I saw. I will have to wait for my husband to get home to help me since she is a 65lb baby who won't stay still for anything. Unfortunately the vet who looked at her is the mobile ASPCA clinic in Brooklyn so gettin them is impossible. I will take her to the local ASPCA if anything. They are next to my husband's job.

Sounds like what happened to my moms dog. She was spayed and the stitches did not dissolve. Luckily she would sit still for me and I was able to carefully open them with a pin, like getting out a splinter and pull them out and treat the small cuts with some antibiotic cream, don't think they needed it just made me feel better.
