Mealworm Question

I'm building a leopard gecko habitat in anticipation of buying a couple at the Repticon on September 9th.

In researching leopard geckos, I ran across something interesting. It seems like many/most gecko owners feed mealworms as one of their primary foods. I didn't find any real discussion about the chitin issue in geckos.

What am I missing? What don't I know about the difference in feeding mealworms to geckos and beardies?

Yeah, it sounds weird because geckos look more delicate than beardies but I think they can digest them better. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they get their heat from their belly??

I've had my leopard geckos for over 20 years now and all they have ever eaten is crickets. Probably get some dubias again soon and let them try them. Bought a baby leopard gecko at reptile show here a couple weeks ago for my grandson Logan. He named him Batman. Still like watching them stalk and eat crickets.

Oh wow 20 years is a long time. I had no idea they lived that long. Than again I don't know much about geckos in general. I've wanted a leopard gecko for some time now because they are such beautiful reptiles. But I have a lot to learn before that time comes. "Batman" that is too cute lol.

I offer mealies, dubia, and crickets to my geckos. They each have their own preferences. Offer a variety of feeders and see what your future gecko seems to like best.
