Hello everyone. I have had my beardie since January and was originally told female but now I'm not so sure. I have gotten answers from friends who own them and a friend in a pet store as well as another forum. What do you think?

Looks like a female from the pic. The best way is the flashlight trick. Go in a dark room and bend the tail slightly up and put the flashlight against the top base of the tail and 1 bump horizontal = female 2 bumps vertical = male. I have been able to sex as early as 3 weeks with this trick.

I had tried that but beardie won't stay still. I'll have to try again later but without that, what do you think

Try doing the flash light test after the lights are off and he/she is sleeping.. Can't tell from the first picture but from the second picture it looks like there is an indent in the middle of the tail making me think male but the bump in the middle makes me think female ..... lol so the light trick will tell.

I think we have a boy. Not quite as defined as the above flashlight pic's but definitely something there. He let me check before didn't try to move just sat there. I'll post a pic tomorrow because he is at my girlfriend's house

With the light if it is a boy you will see the hemipenal lines if they don't pop out when you bend the tail. If you see something there then prob. boy. If your girlfriend could help you take another pic with the light I will have a more positive answer. When I got my first bearded dragon his name was roxy and later had to change it to rocky he is now 6 and since then we fell in love and now have a collection.

I agree still a female I am stuck on the middle bump. You shouldn't have to change her name. Def. a tricky one though. How old is she? I read that there are cases of late producing males that were usually incubated at higher temps (false females). As a breeder females are always sold as possible when young just in case.

Well I actually got her in petco (I know not the best place) but we got her the day they came in. So a little over 4 or 5 months old maybe. It actually gets more tricky. I have this forum saying female and another saying male.

I'm leaning male as well because their is an indent in the middle and there looks like small hemipenes shape on each side it's faint maybe it's because the light is a bit high on the tail.. try close to the base of the tail angle is everything.

What about behavior? Most of the time that will tell. I do have a dominant female that will headbob though!! But if no other beardies around have you seen a full black beard yet?
