Low humidity

Hi! I am a new beardie owner so still learning. Just some background info :) We adopted a 3-year old beardie from some friends about 2 months ago. I named him Hiccup. :) He was unfortunately kept in a 20-gallon tank his whole life thus far so his growth is definitely stunted. I built him a 120-gallon tank (roughly) and he is thriving and adjusting very well. He eats and poops/pees like a champ. Has a basking side and cool side and multiple hides. The basking side sits at 90 degrees (which he likes) and the cool sits at 75. I built with front opening doors, no screen on top, but vented throughout. Floor is tile and some reptile carpet substrate. However, I am constantly struggling with getting his humidity level high enough. I can't get his humidity level above 25% since he is in the bigger tank. I mist a couple times a day, put a much bigger water dish in on the basking side, but no luck. I have not tried live plants. Is there a humidifier for vivs? Any advice is much appreciated! Thanks!

Bearded dragons humidity should be kept on the lower side around 20%-40% so what you have it as now is perfect. If the humidity is too high it can cause some health issues like URI. I think the only reason the range goes up to 40% is that higher humidity can help then shed. But you can also just give them baths or mist them, instead of playing with the humidity levels. Hope I was able to help

Thank you so much for the reply! That makes me feel a lot better and I can stop being neurotic. Lol!

No worries glad I was able to put you at ease and it’s nice knowing that hiccup as such a good home now. Also a little off topic but I have a beardie, that sadly due to mbd, wasn’t able to develop his teeth properly and earned the name toothless

So you get the name from "How to train your
dragon" I originally named him Toothless, but it didn't fit him, so went with my/his other favorite "Hiccup". I hope your "Toothless" is happy regardless of the MBD. I'm sure he/she is thriving because of you! More smoothies, fancy beardie life!
Hiccup has bit me a few times under stress, so not having teeth in that situation would've been nice. :)
Love him just the same!
Big hugs to you and Toothless!!

It sounds as though you're doing everything right. Fafnir's enclosure hangs around the mid-20s and he's had no issues whatsoever. I mist him a couple of times and day and bathe him relatively frequently (particularly during shed). Much like medicine, we have to be careful to not get too focused on the "textbook numbers" and rather monitor the behavior of our little buddies.

Lol thank you and surprisingly his jaw muscles are well developed so thankful he can eat all his favourite treats with ease. And I used to love how to train your dragon when I was younger so when I ended up fostering a toothless beardie I had to name him that . Hopefully after I fatten him up a bit I can find him a good home but here’s a pic of him, he’s so cute with his big head
