Lost nail

Hello,
My beardie just lost his nail and I don't know what to do with that. That happened when his nail got caught in my necklace chain and my son tried to take him from me not noticing that. What is lost is the top portion of the nail - the black covering part. What's left is the pale inner portion of the nail that has a vain in it. The vain can now be in the open since that area is quite sensitive. There was some blood at first. I cleaned the area with Hydrogen Peroxide (that was painful for him) and put some triple antibiotic cream. Then I created sort of a cast with flour and water to stop bleeding. I don't know what to do further. If I remove that cover will it be dangerous for the soft nail and sensitive part that's left? If I keep that, would it allow the top portion of the nail to grow again? I'd appreciate your suggestion.

In my opinion, I wouldn't use hydrogen peroxide. Just the triple antibiotic once daily, the kind without pain killer in it, and a light coating at that. They're pretty resilient and it should heal up on its own, but if you're worried you can keep it covered for a few days until it's no longer an open wound. If at any time it starts bleeding profusely, or pussing, get your BD to the vet asap!

Hi there, really you dont need ot do anything. As a precautionary measure i would make sure his cage is kept clean but other than that as Aleena has said they are resilient animals.
