Hi my beardie has just turned 1 we have had him for 1 year exactly he weighs 550g his tank is 4ft and he has his strip light and basking bulb. He has a 75 watt bulb which is giving ok reading temp was for tank in mid range of temp not sure wether to go up to 100 watt as we hit colder weather see if this improves things (live in scotland) added pics above.
So anyway beardie isn't eating much he used to eat varied diet of crickets locusts cockroaches. With the odd Mario worm. Past few weeks he's hardly ate at all. He hadn't pooped for nearly 2 weeks but eventually did the other day after lots of hot baths which he gets regularly. He ended up pooping 3 times (normal poop) but still isn't eating. He has never been great at eating his veggies i have tried everything also little bits of fruit but has the odd nibble ends up lieing in cage wilting away. I put some locusts in his cage and they r there for days he's not ate any. Not sure what to do vet can't see him I've to phone back next week to see if anything because we got him during pandemic we have never been able to register him. So makes it harder to get him seen. So any advice in the mean time would be greatly appreciated. He is a great wee guy loves a cuddle and gets all cosy and has a sleep on us every day. We have him out everyday he's such a loveable wee guy. He shed around his face a few days ago. Other than that hasn't shed for a while and isn't showing any signs of this.

If the pictures are recent, he’s shedding his snoot :) , and if you live in scotland, hes most likely going into brumation, if hes sleeping and not wanting to bask and not eating those are all clear signs, if hes black bearding or showing signs of irritation (tank surfing, moving constantly) then id say be worried, a healthy dragon can go 3-4 days no food (still needing liquids) and in brumation they can go months without food or water (if they have enough fat stores, which he looks plenty plump) just monitor him, if there’s anymore symptoms let us know, but im almost certain hes just slowing down cause its colder, my dragon has been doing the same thing… i do think you should look into a 100watt bulb, i do switch out my 100watt for a 150 watt when the temps drop…

Hi there thanks very much for ur reply the pic was from the other week he has shed his nose already. Going to pop out just now and get the 100watt bulb. No black beard seems happy enough. Read up on brumation there. Have we not to take him out cage then? Just leavebhim alone for a bit. Do we still offer veg?

If he is brumating, which im almost certain he is, u may wanna reduce his daylight hours by 2, take an hour from the morning and night time, put a towel over the enclosure, and ONLY offer food if he basks for a couple days straight, you dont want food fermenting in his tummy, and yes leave him completely alone, take out all the bugs veggies.

Ok so is it winter where you are? I cant see the UVB bulb is there a fixture w/ a reflector on the UVB? How old is the UVB and what brand and bulb are you using? The basking light looks really close to the basking rock-- how close is it? It should not be closer than 6 inches --- and is it a bright white ? No off color white or yellowish bulb please --- you want a bright white for UVA -- it looks bright white but I want to be sure---- the temps need to be taken w/a digital probe thermometer - I see a stick on -- those are good for ambient - the probe needs to sit on the basking decor where he sits for 10 min then get the temp---- all this I am asking control the eating and everything else about your dragon-- temps for the dragon should be 95-100---

Yeah just going into winter. Uv bulb is 3 months old replace it ever 6 months. I'm sure pro rep maybe can't think of brand usually fo between that and another. Think heat bulb is yellow not bright white? I've never seen a bright white one. Uv is bright white. I have stick on temp that came with cage but don't use it. Have a digital one in his cage that stays in and also tells humidity too. Also have a digital probw one to use too. Temp is fine it's at mid range of average but going to buy higher watt bulb to bring it up.

Sounds like brumation for sure, my Rusty doesn't go into full brumation, but does have a month or 2 when he won't eat much, goes in his cave for most of day or all day, i offer him food if he is awake, and if he eats it then i make him bask for a bit, and bath him a day or 2 later, but for the most part i let him be as much as possible,
If yours goes into full sleep, then no light no heat no food needed, just check on him daily.

This is a bright white basking bulb -- please get one of these or similar to -- you dont want any off white or yellowish bulb -- they do not give off UVA -- you need that -- and I recommend a Reptisun brand bulb they are some of the best -- or a Arcadia 12% bulb I dont know how tall the tank is but it would need to be 18 inches for a T 5 bulb

I bought the arcadia 100 watt bulb and have put it in and rearranged his tank so there is 6 inches under basking bulb.

That is a basking bulb correct? Please get a temp -- you dont want to burn him up -- what about your UVB? Is there a reflector on the UVB fixture?

You need a reflector --- right now your UVB rays are going all over that tank -- he needs them to be directed downward for best rays --- here are two websites for reflectors I dont know if your in the states or UK
