Hi everyone! So I'm starting to get a little paranoid about Mikey's lights. As past few weeks his appetite has decreased and he's very lazy on cold days!! My uvb is T5 w/10.0 bulb..Sadie you actually helped me with the site and I ordered it exact..it's mounted inside. Then behind it is zoomed 150watt uva bulb. Hammock is about 14in below. But the rock he likes to perch up on directly below uvb isn't high enough I know..but I assumed I was good because on the hammock he should get both the uva and uvb? Am I wrong? I'm so nervous..I rotate his food..he's currently on strick with ALL VEGGIES I give him repashy for this and occasionally pumpkin for constipation. Both I syringe feed for nutrients. He used to love all bugs..bsfl, dubias, now only wax worms and dubias few and far between. Please help..I almost want to take him to vet for chkup but said let me ask here first. Sorry for rambling-attached pics below. And as you see he's sleeping:(

What is the basking surface temp on the rock? Are you getting that temp w/ a digital probe thermometer? Hes going to bask at the temp he likes and is most comfortable 95-100 --- what does his poop look like ? Are his insects being digested meaning no insects being pooped out that you can tell they are a insect- thats going to tell you if his temps are good for digestion- please NO more wax worms - they are like candy and very fattening - get him some super worms and feed them every 2-3 days - w/ the weather being funky and cold they do go off their food - if hes eating basking pooping and active doesnt need to be a lot but moving around hes good - this time of year there are a lot of lazy days w/ some of them -- some have spring fever and are very active like my Hiccup but that is normal for him where he gets very active in Jan/ Feb and glass surfs does the head bobbing thing and drives me crazy - but this a normal thing for him - he does this for like 1-2 months - I try and get him out every day for like 2 hrs and that seems to do the trick -- you dont need to feed pumpkin unless hes impacted or has not gone poop for like a really long time- older dragons can take weeks to a month before they poop - just make sure hes hydrated that is key --- rinse your greens before serving that will give him the hydration he needs

Hi Sadie thanks for your quick response! He will not touch any veggies!!! Though I still attempt. He used to love bsfl and dubias and occasionally supers or horn worms. Now soo picky! Basking by rock is 82 and hammock 88. He is 13 months so vet told me Temps should be 85-95?? Also have heating pad stuck on back glass it's blk circle u see in pics. But are lights set up right? One in front of other? I only gave 1ml of pumpkin because he hadn't gone poop in 1 month! Nice normal poop after! But before he would go at least 1x a wk! Because of his limited diet I bought repashy and I syringe feed him every other day typically. When I'm home wkends he still glass surfs and loves being out and exploring! In fact he's doing it as we speak. Lol he gets lots of attention and love. But if I stop wax worms Sadie he won't eat anything!! Then by day 2 he starts looking dehydrated. So I give some water thru syringe and he'll perk right up! I was thinking of changing his set up..should I try..I have alot of large hammocks/basking bridges. I'm at a loss. Temps taken with dig probe too

You can run the heat emitter on the basking side or get another dome small one for like a 50-75 watt bulb and place it next to the big dome- winter I have been having to run another smaller wattage w/ dome on the basking side - you can also set up another basking area in the middle of the tank w/a 75 watt to get your middle of tank temps in the 90's - but you need those digital probe thermometers I recommended -- you dont want to burn him up- your UVB is not going to give off heat -- the bulb gets warm but not enough to heat the tank - is your heat emitter in a dome?

Ok so temp should be 95-100..yes do have digital probes. And highest is typically 89. Tho he does gape occasionally so I figured he was OK. I'm going to try 75w and small dome. Thx Sadie! Will higher Temps make him eat more??

W/ temp highest at 89 possibly- gaping is good- watch his behavior w/ the warmer temps- but typically 95-100 is good for older dragons - he may sit under a higher temp then move to a lower one but if he has the options that's good

Ok..yeh I guess what I have is a heat mat. I'm sorry..I send pic
ok heat mat please replace w/ a heat emitter if you need one - tanks at night should be 65-75 air temp- no lights at night-- darkness - healthy dragons like cool and dark - if they are sick they need it warmer to keep their immune systems up--

You don't need a blanket over the tank - the 75 watt may work - I use a 100 watt on a 120 gallon

Ok mine is 75 gallon..thx so much for all the info. So at night because he's in living room with TV etc and hustle and bustle wen it's bed time I shut everything off and put blanket around tank for more quiet/darkness..I shouldn't do blanket? He loves it and goes right to sleep

Sadie seems to be helping lots here but just wanted to mention a few things. I highly recommend you invest in a UVI Solar meter. They are essential and have saved me so many headaches with my boy. You want a UVI 4-6.00. Anything lower will cause fatigue/no appetite. Anything higher will burn his eyes and won’t want to bask. You measure it from the basking spot. You should have a basking rock for him under the heat lamp. Check out Arcadia guides for bearded dragons. They’re on their website. They have cool pictures that help out at lot with set ups. My boy never wanted to eat greens until I introduced him the repashy gels. They have beardie buffet and veggie burger which beardies LOVE. Mine is 9 years old and thriving. He is also on the Arcadia 8 day supplement schedule (also on their website). I can send some links on where to find these if you want, I know they are hard to get. He is also in a bioactive 6ft terrarium. Let me know if I can help in any way/answer questions as well. Last thing, my boy goes to the vet semi annually for general check up. They’re living beings just like us and deserve the best care or else it’s best not to have one.

Yes..I did make his checkup for 1yr to ease my nerves. But I got heat emitter..temps have been steady 95 and he's doing alot better! I changed tank setup a bit. He's exploring everything now and always out during the day!! Still not touching his veggies..but he does love the repashy as well!! And he took a big poop without any help..lol. The things we do for our babies!! ❤ Thx guys especially. Sadie for all the help to get Mikey back on track!!
