I was told that using a red light is not good for Mordred and I should no longer use one any suggestions?

Bearded dragons see all spectrums of light that we can't see. Having any sort of colored light over head, whether it's blue, red, purple or black, can disrupt their sleep. The parietal eye on top of their head isn't really a functioning eye, more of something that helps them see danger coming from over head (it also helps them find heat but that's another story). So having any color of light over head and having something cause a shadow, will make them think that they are being hunted and it will keep them awake at night. If your tank temps drop below 65 degrees at night, then you should use a CHE, it emits heat but no visible light. On another note, red lights during the day don't allow the pupils do constrict properly and can eventually over time burn their retinas.

I'm betting that is why Mordred is up running around instead of sleeping.

This article is a followup to the one that Kate gave you to read on FB

There is a reptile lighting FB page by Frances Baines. A lot of it is pretty technical but it's a great way to learn about what lights are good to use. It's just called Reptile Lighting. Just went on and it looks like there is a great article on bearded dragon UVB today!

Ditto what Patsy had to say..
Normal basking lights for heat and light for desert lizards and the UVB Reptisun T5 HO 10.0, zero lighting is needed at night if temp goes below 65F a Ceramic heating element would be needed but that's it..
