You want to have a basking spot and the UVB bulb should overlap as they need both to digest and metabolize supplements. Most get the Reptisun T5 HO 10.0 tube UVB

Yep that is for sure the way to go sales.. Just make sure you don't go with the kits as you won't need most of that stuff, it ends up better to buy items and put together your tank.. I got my 40g breeders during their sale it's awesome! I love the mesh tops...They may not have the T5 HO 10.0's from my experience. I get mine online thru petmountain.com sometimes the smaller pet stores have them, I also found them at pet supplies plus

Yes, the T5 HO bulbs require a different hood than your standard bulb. They're much slimmer than standard UVB fluorescent style bulbs. I haven't seen the T5 bulbs or hoods in any stores near me, but you can find them on amazon. They may be running some online black friday deals as well.

You want your UVB to at least cover 2/3'rds of your tank. Like hdrydr31 stated, you need the UVB and the basking bulb to overlap the UVB gives the dragon D3 and the heat helps the body process the calcium. They need the D3 to process calcium. What is nice about the T5 bulb is that it can be rested on top of the tank and still penetrate the mesh top to still give good UVB. If you went with a T8 bulb you would need to mount it inside the tank, above your beardies head because the mesh blocks out 20-35% of the UVB.

No, you just want the UVB part not the LED. If you read the box this light is good for live plants. It's over kill for a dragon plus it has a red light which can hurt their eyes. The UVB only one I think comes in a yellow box.
