My sister got me thinking about this. So, what would happen if you left eggs after they were laid? I mean, in the wild, beardies are born somehow, so what would happen if they were just left there? But, not just beardies...; any reptile.

Most reptiles as far as I know, really don't have the "mothering" instinct. There are a few exceptions (i.e. crocodiles, alligators) but for most, once the eggs are laid, the mother takes off. That's why a turtle will lay so many eggs...Nature knows that when they hatch, the more there are, the better chance a few of them will make it 2 the ocean. I'm not sure how beardies work, but basically the mother picks a particular place so she knows they hatch. Eggs don't necessarily need a caretaker to help them. Now understand, this is what I know about wild reptiles, since I've read many things about how domesticated beardies have become, I am not sure if this is true for them. But another example is snakes...MOST snakes (with a few exceptions of the live bearing species and I think one or 2 species that stay with the eggs) motherhood pretty much ends after the eggs are laid.
