Lacey's First Attempt Hunting

Normally, I've been leaving a plate with a few Phoenix Worms out and available for Lacey during the day, and she's been showing me that she is able to eat on her own, so today I decided to not leave them out for her, and to feed her at normal, scheduled times. This morning, I put her in her "Dining Carrier" and let her hunt some small Dubias. Here is how she did:

Considering she's only 26 days old, she hunted like a champ! She makes Daddy so proud!

No joke! Right now, I'm feeding her Small Dubias - 1/4 to 3/8" in size. And yesterday alone, she ate 17 Dubias! As well as 12 small Phoenix worms! As young as she is, I'm keeping a log of how much and what she eats, plus how many bowel movements she has each day. I just feel that's good info to track to make sure she stays healthy. Or, that's probably me just being overprotective lol.

Don't forget to weigh and measure her every couple weeks or so. Cool idea with the menu and what and how much they eat. Where's the salad numbers at? Is she eating greens?

I also have a Stats Sheet too. We weigh an measure our guys every Saturday after the "after lunch poo."

As for greens, I do put some out for her, but she isn't eating them yet. I supply a mix of Turnip, Mustard, Collard, and Dandelion greens.

Love it! I also jot down what I feed my 2 each day, if they've pooped, weights, and I think it's a great idea as you can establish a baseline of sorts. I do it in spirals this way I can see what they are doing during the seasons, like if they are shedding, if they are not wanting to come out of their hides, light replacements...that way if they are acting off I can look back and see things..
Great idea!

I never thought about putting the light replacement's in the book. That's a great idea, thank you Hdrydr31!

It sounds like you journal daily on how each one did for the day? I'm just trying to get my binder in order. I've got 1 binder for both with their own section and 5 tabs and 3 folders for all receipts and paperwork from everything we buy them.

But it sounds like I need to be writing more! Thanks for the tips!

Yes, I feel it's a good idea to keep track on certain activities. As I mentioned before, Every Saturday we measure and weigh ours and calculate weigh gain/loss per week. Then, Lacey has a food log where I record how much and what she eats each day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also, there's a "BM" box to mark number of Bowel Movements.

I need to get a notebook just for the dragons. Measuring and weighing four and soon to be five dragons requires that to keep track and put it on paper or I might forget something, not quite a senior citizen but getting close.

What I've logged so far.View attachment 15375 View attachment 15376 Once I found it Spike Jr was a girl I changed her name.

Hey at least you are keeping a record! That's great to see!! I'm impressed.

I forget my phone or keys when I'm walking out the door. So you can forget and not have to be old! Keeping records for 5 dragons and 2 leopard geckos and the other (see I already forgot) animals - it's hard to remember everything unless we write it down!

Yea I do take notes daily on them as they are both very different from eachother and it is just easier for me to quickly look back and see if they've eaten alot or not and when I need to make sure I get them in the bath to poop...especially if I'm going to take either of them out on a errand I don't take them unless they've gone.. well I can take Izzy out she's a great girl..
I have a folder that I had going when I got Izzy but with 2 of them I'm putting together a binder with info on both of them.. I really like to be prepared in case anything happened to us my friends knows what to do for them..

I keep track of weights and measures on my wall calendar and then when I get a minute I right them all down on my list. I have to say that I was really good when Dexter was the only one I weighed her weekly. Now I'm lucky if I can remember to do the three of them once a month! Usually Hdrydr31 reminds me to do it when they tell me how much theirs weigh :)

Nice chart! I found that when I just had Izzy it was easy to jot down everything..then I added Simon :) then it was made harder lol so for me it's easier to keep spirals for each of them.. and now that they are older it's even easier as they are not eating as freq... Right now Izzy is brumating and Simon is just being super lazy doing a partial brumation as he just is turning 1.
