I have at times, kept young females together that were raised together as clutchmates. I tried this practice for right at a year. In my notes, there were no injuries, but i did note dominant behaviors. There must always be one chief, and the rest indians in any group, so to speak. At the end of my year of study, I ended my experiment and considered myself lucky to have had no issues.
I ran the study several years later with two non related adult females, both of domicile nature. One female took on male stances and began to head bob vigorously and eventually pinned the other female as if attempting to mate. That ended my study.
You might get lucky and have no issues, you might not. This is one of those grey areas. Me, I'd rather not chance it... And I build large vivs too

With most animals housed together, I've found the possibility of spreading illness and parasites very high. Since in captivity, our dragons usually obtain parasites from contaminated green food or insects, what invades one body doesn't necessarily invade another from the same source. However, when feces is introduced into the mix, a new contamination comes into play.
I think you've made the right decision at the right time for their benefit. Who knows.........maybe they could have cohabitated forever.......maybe next week would be a different story. You just don't know for certian, and you recognize that possibility.
As with most bearded dragon care, you will find varying opinions regarding housing dragons together. I know of success stories and I also know of horror stories. We are in the works of posting an article as far as the horror stories are concerned.
Personally, I always take the side of caution. But I think as long as you are closely monitoring the ladies, both are eating enough proteins and salad, both are pooping regularly (gotta have that one), and one is not hiding all the time, you are probably one of the lucky ones.
