The sooner the better meal worms are very harsh on babies stomachs-- too many will / can cause impaction because of the exoskeleton - I would get crickets if you can get them now --

Won't eat crickets? Ok do the best you can switch to super worms for treats- hornworms are a good hydrating worm- but he is very little and needs his protein - you can also get some bsfl- PetSmart carries Phoenix worms also known as bsfl

Mine didn't like crickets either, but enjoys the dubia roaches. Dubiaroaches.com has great pricing if you live in the US and over 6 yrs I have only had 2 issues. Mine also loves the canned silk worm pupea when the fresh bugs are all gone. He will literally crawl out of the tank to get them when he sees the can, otherwise he never attempts to escape.

Is this just him growing? Want to make sure he isnt getting fat or bloated. Moves around just fine and is active like normal. He is a little upset cause I had to pull him out of my hood to put him to bed

They often flatten out to gather more sun, or just mad lol. Mine will puff up when I go to grab him (he hates me and everyone else, it's just who he is). He is not fat, give it a few and he should deflate. My vet said at the base of the tail there should be a dimple on each side, and that means that they are at a healthy weight. No dimples=too fat.

Ah cool! Just wanted to make sure! He was a little angry at me since I woke him up and moved him from his favorite sleep spot (the hood of my hoodie) to put him back on his rock so that makes sense!

Another great feeder insect is black soldier fly larva (bsfl). You dont have to do anything to them and they are rich in calcium. They can be a staple feeder but they are tiny so your dragon will want to eat quite a few. I have had excellent results with the ones I order from reptilianarts.com...they are lively and wiggily when they come. If its cold where you live, have them held at the post office for you. They dont tolerate temps below 70F. You can use them as toppers on his greens to encourage him to eat greens too!

Oh yeah he loves those! I put them in a bowl with his juvenile dragon pellets and kale and put his bugs in the container I just got.

If you can, use fresh veggies instead of pellets...they provide better hydration. Best veggies for beardies are collard greens, mustard greens, turnip greens, arugula (NO spinach!), spring mix (again, remove the spinach if you use spring mix), endìve, escarole, and the kale is good also. You can also add bell peppers and various squashes (chopped finely or grated)..but be aware that butternut squash can loosen the stool. Avoid carrots and fruits. Walmart sells a bagged greens trio of the collards, mustard and turnip greens. Arugula also makes a good staple green. Mix it up as often as you can with the above mentioned greens...each type provides different nutrients and then theu dont get tired of the same thing.
