or am I blessed to have a super tame beardie?

So I am new to beardies and recently got my Godzilla about a week ago and he/she is a baby I read that they are more rambunctious as babies and become tamer as adults but mine seems to be super tame now. The first day after I brought him home he was hiding for about 30 minutes but within an hour he wasn't hiding at all and I would come right up to his aquarium and he wouldn't move away at all by the second day would let me pick him up and would just chill on my shoulder now I am able to walk around outside with him(very carefully) and he'll just sleep on my shoulder seems to really interact with me and will paw(claw?) at things he wants and then looks at me.

Basically he seems to be totally fine with me and it happened right away. I didn't have to tame him at all or really even work at it and it seems to come pretty naturally.

Is that typical for the babies?

Good for you. That hasn't been my experience with Falkor. He did take to me readily, he liked being held from the start and he has always liked his baths. BUT, he wants to be an explorer. After only a minute or so checking me out he is off seeking his fame and fortune.

That behavior makes me very leery of taking him outside unless he's in a high-sided container.

It really is dragon specific some are crazy little ones and some are not.. my female has been chilled from the very beg my male has been more I wanna run around if out of his tank, but he will let me hold him for a bit. Neither one of them showed any aggression or them being scared of me or me moving things around in their tanks. My male however is super alert to things above him, my female not so much :)

My females have both been good from the beginning. Even Dolly, who was a rescue, was the sweetest. My boy has always been a little wild, so wild I almost gave him away because I was exhausted trying to calm him down. I finally decided to stop fighting it and just let him be and now he's very sweet, but still a little wild!

Hef is a total lover. He always has been. Hefs only weird thing is people walk by with strollers and music playing and he just watches them go by. But the man with the blue umbrella totally freaks him out. Other people walk by with umbrellas and it's fine but blue umbrella guy comes and Hefs gone.
