I am a first time bearded dragon mom and Sweetpea just went through her first full body shed (since she is only approximately 2 months old, I assume it is her first) she shed her tail two days ago and shed her body and legs today. She is now tan and orange, but her tail is dark at the end. I know that beardies change color slightly when shedding, but I am concerned about the dark half of her tail, is this normal? Should I take her into the vet? Are there at home remedies that I should try first and then go? She has some shed on her back foot but I am going to wait a bit for that to fall of naturally, I am going to give her a warm bath to help, but I know not to intervene right away. Please help

It is normal for the tail to be dark a the end -- unless there is a nip bite or injury to the end of the tail its fine - here is some info on tail rot so you know what your looking for and to me it looks fine

Causes of tail rot are:
1. Injuries/trauma - caused by falls, or by any other bearded dragon.

2. Malnourished - make sure he has a balanced diet and he gets the nourishment he needs

How to identify tail rot:

1. Dried out - Decaying tail won't be able to retain moisture, check if it's dried out completely.

2. Very thin, brittle - Decaying tail won't be able to process nourishment, causing it to become more thin and brittle.
What to do after finding out it has a tail rot:
1. Go to a vet - very recommended
For more info, please see the link: https://reptile.guide/bearded-dragon-tail-rot/
T Ask yourself these questions:
Was the tail recently injured?
Was a part of the tail open (eg wound/scrape/cut)
Was flesh exposed?
Is the tail constantly dark? or does the darkness ever go away (eg when in the tank, different environments)
If you didn't answer yes to basically all of those questions, it's not tail rot.
Tail rot is extremely rare. It's an infection of the flesh, from a wound or injury to the tail.
Tail rot is really kind of just a fancy name for an infected wound, one of which is affecting the tail.ail Rot

Please make sure your using good lighting and good surface basking temps 105-110 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer and a good long tube UVB --- please no coils -- the UVB needs to be properly placed and distanced for it to be effective to the dragon -- this is so important for the baby to get off to a good start -- these things I have mentioned are the lifeline to the dragon - if you need any more help or have questions please ask --- not any ole UVB will work -- there are some out there that arent any good - so please ask if you want links to anything I have posted about

What is your recommendation for a UVB bulb? I finally got the basking spot hot enough for her, but the starter kit I got came with a coil bulb, any suggestions would be fantastic.

Sorry I meant any injury can cause tail rot ---- Recommendations for a good UVB are one of the following
a 24" for a 40 + gallon tank Zoo Med w/ a Reptisun 10.0 T 5 22" bulb this fixture will come w/ a 5.0 bulb that can be used for tanks 20-30 gallon let me know the size of your tank so I can help you get it placed - there is a difference between the two bulbs https://www.pangeareptile.com/colle...d-reptisun-10-0-uvb-t5?variant=26907418591332
or this one
24" Arcadia Pro T 5 w/ the 12% bulb https://www.pangeareptile.com/colle.../products/arcadia-prot5-12-uvb-bulb-with-hood
Please let me know when they come in I will help you get them placed for your tank - that will depend on the screen
