Is This Tail Rot?

My almost three year old Bearded Dragon just had the end of his tail come off today, probably a centimeters worth. This did not come as a surprise, as the tail end had been looking bad for quite a while. About a year and a half ago, I brought him to the vet to check for tail rot, w where he veterinarian diagnosed him with a non-tail rot infection, giving some medication that kept the tail end alright up until he started shedding again these past few weeks. His tail has always been slightly dark, which is observable in the images, however I haven't been able to tell whether it's natural or tail rot, and was wondering if someone here more familiar could answer. He is still in the process of shedding, so the darkness is slightly less prevalent but it's largely the same. An additional question I have is whether he should be taken to the vet, as while he appears to be feeling fine without any extra sensitivity in the area; but I'm unsure as to whether it can become infected if not inspected.

No tail rot --- tail rot would be black w/ infection
