Hey all. My baby beardie shed his tail a couple weeks ago. Now his arms and legs are turning white. I assume it’s shed, but I’m not sure. He eats great and poops normally. It’s slightly concerning to me but only because I’m new to this whole beardie thing. And I tend to be anxious. We clean his tank once a week, the dots on the glass are recent from the water spray bottle. If it is shed, I’m sorry for being paranoid lol

Yes that is shed-- make sure your uvb and basking bulb are up to par- NO coils for uvb- No colored bulbs- No off white No yellowish bulbs No daytime bulbs+ those have a neoydium coating on them that is bad for the eyes- basking temps should be surface temps taken w/ a digital probe thermometer- place the probe on the spot where he sits for basking wait 10 min get the temp- 105-110 for a baby

My Charlie 7 months old and just shed his face and his feet. But his tail has progressively turned this white color but shows no sign of skin peeling off.. just white. He is always a picky eater but is especially picky the last few days. All of his lighting and temps are correct. And I have been soaking him more than usual to try to help the process. Charlie has never been overly active, in fact, he’s a very lazy little guy..prefers hand feeding over chasing anything! But I’m just wondering if this is typical or normal, the tail color that is? Although I did my homework for 2 years before deciding and planning for this guy, I realize that there is so much to learn.. my questions never stop!

@Newbeardiemom -- yes that is shed -- please start your own thread -- please do not keep soaking him he will shed the skin when its ready tails can take a long time to come off let it do its thing -- too much bathing dries the scales out --- when the tail becomes crackly and dry you can spray the tail and take a soft baby toothe brush and gently brush the tail it will take off the loose shed - do this w/ all the areas of the body - let it get crackly and dry and spray then gently brush - he will also rub up against decor in the tank to scratch him self getting loose shed off --
NEVER PICK !! You can cause it to bleed and create infection
