so my 6 month old beardie is normally really active but the past two days hes been sleeping a lot and staying under his hide, normally he comes out once i turn his heat lamp on, but its been like half an hour (hes been awake since i turned it on) he isnt budging. i dont really know if this is the start of brumation (im kinda new to this) if it is what should i do?

6 months is a bit young for brumation - but it could be. typically we like them to be a bit older - brumation can be stressful (it uses up body fat stores) not much really that you can do. if he's going to sleep - he's going to sleep. continue to offer food - he may eat it, he may not. make sure to keep the temps up to help digestion. and - make sure he poops at least every few days - if he doesn't, try a warm bath to induce defecation. you don't want food to sit in his digestive tract. some beardies will sleep for a few months. some will sleep for a few days, be up for a few days, sleep, up etc. some will just slow down. it's the worst time of year for most of us - we miss them terribly !!

Yea that's a bit young for a full brumation but it is possible if they are born early in the year. It is likely he may do a partial brumation my gal did that the first year she would get super lazy not eat as much but would still eat here and there, may or may not come out of hide but would stay out if I put her under her basking lamp...
It is hard wired in them but if you suspect brumation it is important to get a fecal check to make sure they are clear from parasites.. As a beardie that goes into brumation with parasites they feed off of the fat stores and can make them very ill to it can kill them.
