That UVB is it a coil? If it is they are inadequate --- you need a tube fixture -- if your tank is a 40 gallon tank you need a 24" fixture w/ this bulb a Reptisun 10.0 T 5 - most pet stores do not carry that length --- the digital probe is a Zoo Med probe -- you need a bright white basking bulb looks like this https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/en...nse-basking-spot-light-14809.html?cgid=500202
UVB's are different than the basking bulb
you dont want this https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/en...mpact-fluorescent-bulb-16227.html?cgid=500202
you want this https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/en...-10.0-uvb-reptile-lamp-14822.html?cgid=500202 and a fixture like this
https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/en...reptile-terrarium-hood-14902.html?cgid=500202 24"
This is the uvb bulb I have and can I get these thermometer
You can get a digital probe thermometer for $7 at petsmart or petco they usually carry Zoo Meds -- those you have is good for ambient temps only -- the hygrometer is for humidity -- put it on the back center of wall -- humidity is fine as long as it does not go above 70%This bulb is inadequate here is some info on UVB's
Which UVB light should I use?
The best UVB light is a ReptiSun 10.0 fluorescent tube HO (Or Arcardia 12% in the UK). Compact or coil bulbs do not emit the proper amount of UVB light for a bearded dragon, and should not be used. Other brands, such as the Zilla Desert Series and ReptiGlo have been known to cause eye problems and other health issues with bearded dragons, and should be avoided. The reason that some UVB lights (Zilla, ReptiGlo, coils/compacts, ect.) are considered dangerous is because the wavelength of UVB that they emit is shorter and more intense than the wavelength of the "safe" lights (ReptiSun, Arcadia). UVB lights should be replaced every 6 months. The T5’s are a strong bulb and only need to be replaced once a year – the T 8 every 6 months--- where as the T 8 are not as strong—they need to be placed inside the tank the T 5 10.0 bulb approx 10-11 inches from basking spot – the T 8 approx 6-8 inches from basking spot—the cover needs to be off the bulb for full effect of the UVB rays--
These bulbs have caused more issues than I can count and many have died from this UVB - ones that were not caught early on
Oh dear-- yes you definitely need to get a new bulb- get your digital probe thermometer as well--So update he stopped doing the heavy breathing he had shed in his nose when I woke up this morning had me all worried, sad thing is I dropped the uv tube on accident hopefully I can return it today...
Your fixture does it have a reflector on it?Yeh they were able to exchange it I went to a grow shop to get the light fixture tho it was 30 compared to the 60 at the pet store so he's doing fine now. He's all lit up
