Hello everyone,
My name is David, I recently acquired two beardies from my cousin after her and her fiance split. They are named Harley and Bob (I didn't name them). I've been told they are approximately 2 years old, but no idea what gender they are. Based on the behaviors I have seen I am assuming Harley is most likely male. "He" does a lot of head bobbing and he beard turns black on average once a day. I have absolutely no idea about Bobs gender. Both are friendly and not at all aggressive towarss people or other pets (3 dogs).

When I picked them up from my cousin she gave me the 110 galon tank and everything she had for them. It included one real log and one plastic fish tank log, a shallow plastic water dish big enough for bathing, but only 3/4 of an inch deep, and two small food bowls. As for lighting, it came with one zoo-med dual bulb fixture with two white bulbs (not sure if they are even the correct type) and one 100w red night time bulb which had just burnt out the night before.

I have begun upgrading the enclosure and environment for them. I purchased a second zoo-med dual bulb fixture and equiped each with one white bulb and one 100w red night bulb. I removed the two logs and replaced them with a large plaster/cement rock that both Harley and Bob can fit on to bask. It has a cave built into the rock so it also provides a hiding place for them. The food bowls will remain the same, but the water dish used for "bathing" will be switched to a corner bath that is 2-1/2" deep but not as large. I'm waiting a bit for them to settle into the recent changes so that bath with probably go in next week. I also picked up a zoo-med power strip with built in timer for 4 outlets and 4 switched outlets. So a total of 8 outlets.

As of right now I am trying to adjust the timer more to their sleep schedule so it turns the white lights on at 8 am and off at 8 pm. The red lights I keep on all day(temperature seemed a bit high last night so I turned one of them off to allow it to drop a bit). This may need some fine tuning so I am very open to suggestions with this and feeding schedule.

Feeding schedule so far has been kinda random. I am trying to set that as well. I woke up this morning and noticed Harley was at the food bowl looking for food so I may switch to a morning fruit and vegetable feeding and leave the crickets and wax worms for the afternoon. When I feed them crickets I have not been giving them fruits or vegetables that day. I also give them only 2 wax worms each, each day.

Sorry for the long intro.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated as I am completely new to beardies.

I have attached a picture of Harley and Bob in their environment.

No night lights as it screws up their sleep pattern, use a ceramic heat emitter if it's too cold. Welcome to your new addiction

I'm new here too. I've been a beardie owner for 13 years now. I got my beardie Ozzy when I was just in grade 6, I'm now nearly 26 hears old lol. I remember the first night he was at my house I woke up to go see how he was doing. He wasn't moving so I began to cry thinking I had killed him but he was just sleeping. I was taught about their patterns and such. Now 13 years later he's still alive and kicking.

So I did a little research last week and found out that Harley, the suspected male dragon, is actually male. As for Bob, He isn't a he, but a she!
This should be fun if they ever decide to mate. If anyone doesn't know how to tell the difference, I had found a great video on youtube that explains and demonstrates the difference and how to tell. Here's the link:
