I live in the Midwest and we've been under a deep freeze for the past month! I was able to get a large shipment of crickets before the weather got bad but now I am down to my last dozen. I have 5 frogs and one hungry baby beardie to feed! Are any of these worms safe for a baby to eat in a pinch? Superworms, meal worms, calci worms. I remember when Dexter was little I tried to feed her phoenix worms but she pooped them out whole. My frogs are okay, the crickets I have are big so they can eat one or 2 and then they sleep for 3 days!

I'm going to the pet store today to see if they have any crickets but usually when I can't get them they can't either.

That's my other problem, I don't drive! I told my boyfriend if we drove and had more room we could set up a same day cricket delivery company!

I just saw your post that she may be going into brumation? Mother Nature has her sick sense of irony sometimes but others...She can put forth some perfect timing!

Actually I have two and Dexter is the oldest one, Luci is the younger one. Where I did get lucky was in Jan I ordered 1000 crickets for Luci and the the smaller frogs and 500 crickets for Dexter and the bigger frogs, since Dexter hasn't really been eating much I've been able to feed Luci her crickets. They are a little too big but I feed him one at a time and make sure he swallows before he gets another one. Plus since they are on the bigger side I didn't have to feed him as many.

I have no idea what Dexter is doing. This morning she was under her log sleeping and I took her out to give her a bath and she was wide awake and ate a few worms. Now she's back laying on her hammock with sleepy eyes.

I think I read that if entering brumation try to stay away from protein and stick with veggies? Easier on digestion. Don't quote me on that...and not really helpful if she doesn't like veggies lol.

I looked at the temp for next week, it's looking like a heat wave! Thursday is supposed to be 35 so I think I shoot for that day. I was in luck I went to Petco today and they had some nice healthy large crickets in. This cold needs to go WAY up north! My parents are in central WI and this is the coldest it's been up there in the 13 years they've lived there. They are nervous their old furnace isn't going to make it through!

Cool! I'm finding a few people here that live in Il but not many in Chicago.
