I'm constantly telling my husband we need to be careful what we use to cook and clean around our bearded dragons, especially because we don't have a large house where we could just move them to an area and close it off and it be good enough. So I wake up to a strong sent of some type of cleaner. I get up to see what he's using, and he's used PINE SOL to mop the floors, which is extremely bad for reptiles. I'm so hurt and furious because I'm always telling him to Google things before using it. I immediately tell him to help me open the windows and run some fans to air out the house.

My question is, has significant damage been done from about 20 or so minutes of exposure to the smell? I could smell it in the room where they live.

I have never heard of Pine Sol hurting dragons- as long as there is good air flow in the house / room he should be fine- its when they are confined to a room w/ no air flow I would get concerned

I did some research, and it's extremely toxic to birds and reptiles. It's apparently not good for other pets as well.

Lets ask some others and see if they have heard of this

Thank you. I can't relax after what I've read. Apparently it's the "phenols" in Pine Sol that's so dangerous to animals.
Since it was this one time probably no harm was done , good that you found out and took quick action and now won't use it again

Hello,

I am sorry, my post didn't show up! I agree, it
was a very short period of time for any exposure. I think he will be just fine.
Just watch for lethargic behavior, black bearding, etc & lack of appetite in case it did affect him.
