What kind of reptile or amphibian (other than a young BD) would you recommend for a 10 or 20 gallon tank? I'm curious because I'd like one more once my dragon outgrows his 20 gallon tank. I say 10-20 because I have a ten gallon as well, and plan on using one or the other to temporarily house my roaches when I clean their tub.

I'm looking for something a little more exotic than the BD and pacman I have (but I will love all three the same). :D Recommendations? Keep it strictly to reptiles and amphibians. Oh, but no snakes (wife's one exception).

Tropical fish? lol
Most reptiles need more room than that. Although you could probably get some froggies!

A 20 gallon Long tank is perfect for a Leopard Gecko. We have a very nice set up for Sir Galen our LG and it gives him plenty of space to roam at night. There are also many morphs available in leopard geckos so a lot to choose from and some having very exotic patterns and colours. They are also extremely easy to care for and a lot of fun.
Another idea which works well in a 20 gallon Long tank is to do a simple mod using a piece of plexi-glass and some aquarium sealant and making a partition where you can have half dry land and half the tank with gravel and 2-3 inches of water. We have a group of 5 Fire Belly Toads in this type of set-up and they love it! They are also extremely easy to care for and a lot of fun. You really don't want to handle them however because they do emit a poison and are rather delicate but they are very active and interesting to watch. One other note is that the males are very vocal. Some people describe it at sounding like a small dog barking but I think a more accurate description is that it sounds like geese honking way off in the distance. They also have a very keen ability to throw their voices and you can be in another room at times and think they are sitting on your shoulder..lol It's really very cool and they are mostly only vocal late at night after lights out. Our males talk at 3 am when they do it. You could house up to 7 Fire Bellys in a 20 gallon long again 50% dry land and 50% water 2-3 inches deep. If you have a Critter Cage tank it says they are not recommended for water..I just double seal the area I have for water with aquarium sealant and have had no issues with leaks.:)
Enjoy

You know, I was thinking about a leopard gecko - thanks for the cool idea!!!

I know I can't get a snake, but in my browsing saw some info on legless lizards (I found a loophole)! Any idea on tank size requirements? Some of the pics and vids I've seen look like they are in smaller sized tanks, but there wasn't much of a point of reference.

Cuban anoles and chameleons look cool too, but I think my tank isn't tall enough.. And thanks for the fish idea, but for now I'm done with fish. :D Any ideas on frogs that are *somewhat* quiet? I'd be housing them in the same room as my pacman and BD.

Dart frogs? I have only seen them in the pet store, but I've never heard them be vocal. Who knows what happens when lights go out, though.

Dart frogs, eh? Never thought about that. Wow, I like that idea too. Going to a reptile show tomorrow. I know they'll have other critters like that there too. I will definitely check that idea out. Thanks so much!!! :D

Edit: Did I say tomorrow? I guess technically its today... hehe.
