Charizards not been eating much or even moving much for that matter so it's been a worrying few days but I woke up this morning to find him in a very odd position.

I agree with Pat B, you might want to remove those little pieces, whatever they are. Wait a few days and see if he eats or moves some. If he already ingested some of those pieces, that 'could' be your culprit.
