Ok not sure what that is -- I am going to have some one look at it and I am going to flag this post to the vet tech that comes on late at night- in the mean time I need for you to go over your UVB your using a coil or a long tube fixture and the surface basking temps- how are you taking them and what are they?

Hey, thanks for the reply and for helping out!
the temps are around 105°F on the hot side and around 73°F on the cold side. i bought a whole bearded dragon kit with all the things you need for the cage. The lights are only 3-4 months old as the dragon itself. i dont know if this is handy information but for now he still only eats crickets, i'm trying greens everynow and then but he still doesnt eat them. he eats his crickets well tho

Ok so lets do some getting rid of things that are no good w/ the kit --- we dont like kits as they sell stuff in there that are no good for dragons sadly to say--- first you need to get rid of the coil UVB -- they are no good inadequate and will cause all kinds of health issues---- including eyes ---- you want a long tube fixture I am going to post links for you pick on there are 3 that are real good -- next you need a digital probe thermometer 2 of them - you want surface basking temps of 105-110 taken w/ those probes ---- next please get rid of the sand this could also be a cause for the eye issue going on --- you can get some textured NON adhesive shelf liner cut to the size of the tank- the loose substrate for now is too high risk for impaction --- you can find it at Walmart or your local home improvement store -- I dont see any temp gauges in the tank at all --- please get them right away --
UVB's these are all good for a 40-120 gallon tanks
24" https://www.petmountain.com/product/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-high-output-terrarium-hood?variant=40651
this comes w/ a 5.0 bulb you will need this bulb for a 40 + gallon tank 22" https://www.petmountain.com/product/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-100-uvb-high-output-bulbs?variant=40630
keep the 5.0 bulb they are good for smaller tanks like 20 gallon or so they can be used for back ups distance and placement is different tho from the 10.0 bulb
or this one can be found at Pet Smart if you have one or ordered on line
you want a 24 watt w/ the 12% bulb https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/en...v-b-kit-65058.html?cgid=500114&fmethod=Browse
or this one you will need to change the bulb out to the one posted above the Reptisun bulb
distance and placement will be determined by your screen on the tank -- please post when you get the fixture I will help you place it --- please get the substrate changed out and get the digital probe thermometers right away -- they look like this https://www.petsmart.com/reptile/en...mometer-14914.html?cgid=500113&fmethod=Browse
also your going to need a digital probe hygrometer looks like this
I would get him switched over to dubia roaches they are a better and cheaper feeder -- easier to care for and better nutrition wise --- also you dont want to go into winter relying on pet stores for food --- please get him some BSFL they are a great staple feeder feed as many as you want I would order large and feed first morning feeding use them as lures to the salad bowl - drop them onto the salad in front of him -- do not dust them but you need to dust your crickets/ dubias w/ the calcium D3 5 x per week ONE time per day -- multivitamin 2 x per week ONE time per day -- when you get the hygrometer place on the back center wall of your tank optimal humidity is 40-50% nothing under 20 or over 70% -- this helps w/ the shedding --
https://www.amazon.com/MACGOAL-Rept...uGQB&pd_rd_wg=tLkwE&ref_=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_d
you will need a bowl like this for the BSFL so they can escape they make great salad bowls and to keep the smaller dubia in the bowl as well -- please ask more questions but we need that eye looked at --- and that UVB replaced as soon as you can -- the issue could be caused by the UVB or substrate or both - but the UVB will cause more health problems

I need Tracie and the other person to look at it and advise - in the meantime we need to start working on the cause for the issue -- substrate and the UVB -- get your UVB ordered or picked up and the substrate - if you haft to use paper towels for now -- if its warm where you are 65 + degrees take him out in a plastic tote place him in direct sunlight for 15 minutes or so - NO glass containers -- supervise him -- this will give him good UVB rays till you get the new UVB---

I have a vet appointment in 3 hours
Ok let me go see what another person posted for me --
What a cute beardie ! The set up decor looks great but the substrate is possibly the cause of the eye problem so it might be best to get rid of it. . Dust or loose debris may have lodged in the eye. The first thing to try is VERY gently rinse the eye with room temp. saline solution [ not contact lens type ] You could also try a few drops of unpasteurized honey mixed with drops of warm water as eye drops. Seeing a certified reptile vet may be the best option though, to keep it from getting worse.

www.arav.org to find a good reptile vet -- if your in a small area type in a bigger cities zip code

Hello,

Yes, definitely replace the coil UVB light. They are notorious for causing eye irritation & infections.
You can initially try making an eye drop from raw unpasteurized honey & warm water. Simply get
the honey & mix a little bit up with some warm water just to make it thinner. It is an antimicrobial/
antibacterial agent & is usually very good about clearing up eye infections. At night, you can use
a warm chamomile tea bag, moistened, on his eye like a compress for a few minutes to help take
down any swelling. Be sure it isn't too hot & you can put a washcloth over it to help hold in heat.
Are you using a bright white light for basking right now? For now, go ahead & turn off the coil UVB
& just use the basking light until you get your new one in.

Let us know how he is doing.
Tracie
