I want to introduce you guys to 2 of my best friends. My life wouldn't be the same without them. I used to foster for a local rescue group in my home town, and received a call Aug. 17, 2011. They told me that they had gotten a call from a lady saying there were kittens outside of her house, and that their mother had been hit by a car and killed. She couldn't bring them in because of her dog, and was hoping someone could come and get them. That someone ended up being myself and my daughter (it was her 7th birthday that day).
When we got out there I found 2 kittens that were no more than 2-3 weeks old, covered in fleas, mud, and were nothing more than skin and bones. If they had been out there another day or two they would have been dead, no doubt in my mind.
Funny thing is, it was like they knew why I was there. They came right up to me meowing their little heads off. I scooped them up, put them in my car, and took them home.
When we got there they were bottle fed, given a thorough bath, and given a good once over. This went on until they were about 8 weeks old, had gained the weight the vet wanted them to gain, and were able to be treated with advantage for fleas.
Anyhow, that is the short version of a long story. I want to introduce you guys to my cats, Fat Cakes, and Squiggles.
Here is Squiggles and his formula beard.
Here is little Fat Cakes
This is the most recent pic I have on my computer, but this is 9 months ago. Fat Cakes looks the same, but Squiggles has gained a good 8 pounds!
