I haven't slept in 36 hours so I tend to get loopy and try to be funny. Thus the obnoxious title to my thread. It's meant to be funny, but you have to have a certain sense of humor.

Ok. I have been meaning to ask the following questions for roughly a half a year and what better time to ask than when I am half asleep (I can't stop myself).

From the literature I have read, I am totally confused.

Do Bearded Dragons have exceptional sight, exceptional hearing, or both? If you look at their tympanic membranes (hey, not bad. I still remember that from 9th grade) they are quite large which would make you think that they have unbelievable hearing.

But their eyes are, I don't know, kind of beady like. And I have heard that they have amazing vision which is kind of hard to believe.

I also read that they are very sensitive to vibration. But sadly, since many of Australia's roads are made of macadam, and Beardies go out to the roads to soak in the sun on roads and highways, they don't feel any vibration from the vehicles on the road and roughly 10,000 are run over by cars and trucks EVERY YEAR. That upsets me so much I try to push it out of my mind every time I think about it.

So does anyone have any information concerning these particular senses? Surprisingly, of the 9 plus books I have on B.D's., NONE of them discuss it.

Thank you everyone for everything and thank you for your kindness. I feel I have made many friends here and it's a nice oasis away from places like YouTube and IMBD where people are constantly throwing insults at you, as well as calling you names.

As I may have already written ( I have "Chemo Brain" so I forget things from time to time), I just left an emotionally abusive wife of 30 years that left me with "Battered Spouse Syndrome." So I am grateful for any form of kindness as well as anyone being nice and not insulting me.

Hi i am not very knowledgeable on beardies but I found this online. Scroll down a bit and there is some info on eyesight and hearing. Someone else may have more info to share with you since I am still learning. I'm actually glad you asked this because I have been wondering myself and just didn't get around to googling it :)

That's a good link Jager. I know that they can see spectrum of color that we can't see. I always noticed that Dexter has the worst depth perception and if a worm isn't crawling in the right spot she doesn't go for it but if I scoot it a bit close to her she is all over it. Or she will intently watch it crawling and make a move for it but then lose interest. At first I thought she was just lazy but then I wondered if they just naturally have bad eyesight.

The link actually worked perfectly! How did you ever find this site? It is truly wonderful and gives a lot of information.

As you probably read, they touched on both hearing as well as their vision but unfortunately, didn't give the reader a great deal of in dept information. Studies that will tell the reader the accuracy of these two senses as well as distance, and sensitivity.

But I thank you very much because it gave me more information than I have been able to gather in years. The site itself covers a great deal which is exactly what I have been looking for.

I am not familiar with that commercial. To me, it sounds like it comes from a movie. What is the commercial about?

Being able to lock their limbs explains why Jager can sleep standing up against the glass of his tank without falling over. I just thought he had really good balance LOL :)

Its a commercial about getting settlement money paid to you in a lump sum as opposed to monthly payments, I believe it is for a lawyer. That is what the people in the commercial say LOL

Maybe this link will have more of the info you are looking for :)

I told you it was a good site. Like I used to tell my patients when they would thank me for helping them. I would tell them listen, every once in a while I get something right. It always gave them a good laugh. But maybe it's true ha, ha. The fact that I thought the site you linked me to proves my point :D. I have well over a 40% success rate with my advice!

I can finally go to sleep tonight. I've now gone over 40 hours without sleep. Unfortunately, my mother came down with a severe case of cellulitis of her arm but this time it traveled up to her neck and slightly below. I just came back from the hospital and had to check if there were any responses. It is now ~ 1:30 A.M. on the east coast so I better get some sleep. I am so exhausted you all have to excuse me for all of my lame as well as personal comments I made today.

Hopefully, if all is well tomorrow, I'll be back to normal and behave myself!

Since I've got a beardie I've been asking myself exactly the same thing(s)!
