Hello everyone, I just recently bought my bearded dragon and did a lot of research but I still don't understand the food situation. I already tried to feed em' carrots, pellets, and other food's. Any suggestions? When I try, he just closes his eyes.

It very much depends on the age, but pellets are not a good food source for beardies. For daily staple salads, the base of the salad should be dark, leafy greens. Things like turnip greens, mustard greens, collard greens, and endives are great choices. These should be fed everyday. For veggies on top, daily veggies can consist of various squashes, like acorn, butternut, and yellow squash. There are other veggies you can feed occasionally like bell pepper, broccoli, carrot, and green beans. My 2 year old female’s faves are turnip greens, red bell peppers, and mangos.
Proteins are also super important but how much and how often is dependent on how old your dragon is. Juveniles require 80% insects and 20% greens, while adults need 80% greens and 20% proteins. For my adult, she gets a salad everyday and 5 large dubias every other day. For a juvenile, you need to be feeding dubias or crickets or whatever everyday, but I don’t have experience with young dragons.
