Well I am pretty certain that Izzy is attempting to either partially brumate or fully brumate.. She is not actively coming out of her hide in the am, I put her up under her basking lamp...She will stay awake for part of the day, she is eating but that has really slowed down, she is still pooping (looks normal) in her bath.
From what I understand those close to a year old can safely brumate (I got her 8/30/15 and believe she was 3-4 months old)
I was hoping she wouldn't do this for awhile, but I guess it is what it is.. Now what to do for her during this process.... what should I expect a dragon that's 200+ a few grams to loose safely and when do I worry?

Oh guess I should add she will stay under her basking light most of the day but a big majority of it she's sleeping up there.. At late afternoon she will go to her hide..And she's very active during her bath.

Luci is doing the same again. He stays in his hide for 2 days then.slowly comes out basks and eats then goes back in.

The only thing we can do is let them be keep an eye on them. Still offer food, give baths once a week and hope they don't sleep for a long time :(

Sigh..... ok..... I guess being the first brumation it makes me nervous. The nice thing is I am at home and her enclosure is 5' from me (We have her set up between our chairs so we can both see her :) ) She ate some today but not like she usually does, this has been decreasing for several weeks now.. How much weight loss is ok?

Luci doesn't know either. He came out Friday and ran around like crazy I can see he's real sleepy but he's still walking around. I'm going to see what he does Monday morning, I'm wondering if he is out because he knows someone's home.

during brumation their metabolism actually slows. there will be some weight loss but not what you might expect. This is a naturally occurring phenomenon. When is he wakes up she may be more hungry than usual. Last week my boy tried to eat a yellow post it note! – he actually ate several dubias ( 3 to 5 as normal for him) then his salads for the next three days. He poops daily while he's awake. This morning I noticed he's sleeping again.

Well Luci is WIDE awake this morning. We had a little incident with him and Dexter this afternoon. She wanted to run around so I put her on the floor. She never wants to run she usually just wants to sit in one spot but today she was real active. My boyfriend was in the reptile room and he let Luci out, not knowing that I was on the floor with Dexter. Luci MOWED down the cat and ran into the dining room, full beard and head bob, I barely made it to Dexter in time! He got to her tail and I was able to scoop her up and hide her. My boyfriend had never seen that before, he's only seen the head bob, it freaked him out a bit.

So needless to say, no brumation for Luci today LOL!

Yikes :( I hope that Dexter's tail is ok. That had to be scary for him to see Luci in full on Dragon mode lol
