I have a female (?) bearded dragon, Pogona, whom layed infertile eggs a couple of months ago. These past couple of days, she has been acting odd, in that her beard has been puffing up and turning black, and she has been attacking the other female bearded dragon, Scully, of which she is housed with. They both have an immensely close relationship and are inseparable. However, this morning, I saw Pogona on top of Scully, so I picked her up, and I am pretty sure I saw her have a hemipenis, something of which males only have. I am very confused and quite worried.. Is there a possibility she or he could be both a female and male?

Thank you,
Forrest

No please separate them asap- dragons should never be housed together and if it is a male your about to become grandpa- the fighting is only going to get worse---

They have been housed together for months, and never have had any issues. However, recently, one of the females has been acting a bit off--she has been acting like a male--her beard is black and it puffs up, and she has been attempting to mate the other female, but she layed eggs a couple of months ago. I am very confused, and was just wondering if a female bearded dragon could change sex.. I have read of these kinds of occurances, so I know it is possible.

I heard back from one of the people I reached out to and this is what they said

Nothing that I've ever heard of, it's more likely that O.P. just caught a glimpse of the vent area but nothing more. Females will at times express dominance over others and go through the " mating " behavior just as you described
Please get them separated or your going to have more issues on your hands than you want --- dragons are territorial and one will take dominance over the other one --
