I’m a new beardie mom and I have a 1 month baby dragon and this morning I picked him to clean up some in his terrarium and he jumped off my hand and I’m scared that he might die. I put him back in his terrarium to get rest and he can still walk and he is still aware of his surroundings however he is just laying down, he only moves to different locations to lay down again and I’m really worried. I looked up some other peoples stories but they’re usually always older than 4 months. I’m 4”11 so he must’ve fallen around 3 feet. Someone please help me.

Keep an eye on him - make sure he has correct basking temps 105-110 taken w / a digital probe thermometer NO stick ons they are inaccurate- UVB NO coils --- watch for lethargic behavior - not eating not basking - - eating will be slow its called relocation stress but he should be eating something-- please let him acclimate to the tank --- let him get used to his surroundings before taking him out of the tank - get your hand in the tank as much as possible so he gets used to you - take and put a piece of clothing or something like fleece w/ your smell in his hide --- if you still need help please ask

Everything is the right temperature ! I put him in his terrarium after the fall and he slept for about 4 or 5 hours, there were no visible injuries thankfully and after a bit of rest he was able to walk around more and I gave him some veggies and a mealworm since he wasn’t able to eat during the day and he was able to eat!! He’s doing okay for right now but I’m going to try to see when I can see a vet to make sure everything is fine :,)

Ok as long as he is not black bearding as well -- a black beard can mean pain and distress -- the vet may take x rays and they may not as long as hes not limping around and no swelling - the other thing too is no internal injuries -- but the beard is going to tell you if that may be going on --- please do not walk around w/ him on your shoulder as well they think they are superman and think they can fly for some reason - and please NO meal worms -- he is too young for meal worms the exoskeleton is too harsh on babies tummys -- he should be fed crickets dubia roaches or BSFL they are all staple feeders and no bigger than the size between the eyes length wise -- so if hes a month old I would look at pin heads or the smallest dubias you can find -- BSFL are a great staple feeder they are enriched in calcium and you do not need to dust them w/ calcium D3 the other insects tho you will need to -- if you need help w/ websites for insects / worms let me know I will post for you

He is walking just fine and he doesn’t have any visible injuries! Thank you so much for the new information too, Ah and can you tell me a bit more of the website for the insects too :0 thank you lots for taking the Time to help me with this i appreciate it lots! He’s doing really well for right now and I’m genuinely super happy he’s okay! I am too scared to carry him on my shoulder bc of how small he is so I usually just hold Him in my hand if I need to do anything I’m his terrarium :,)

Lets go over the UVB ? What are you using? NO coils --- they are inadequate--- what is the size of your tank? Basking temps should be 105-110 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer looks like this
No colored bulbs - you need two good lights for the tank a good UVB long tube fixture and a bright white basking bulb
3 temps in the tank basking 105-110 - middle of tank 90's and cool side of tank 80's - two probe thermometers and you can use a stick on for ambient temps - temps at nite should not fall below 65 -- if you need heat at nite for winter get a CHE
Websites for nutrition
http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html ignore the kale thing its a good staple feeder
www.symptonbsf.com great place for bsfl - order medium for now do not dust them add to the top of his salad first thing in the morning to lure him to bowl - you can hand feed them to him feed as many as you want they are a good compliment to dubia roaches
www.dubiaroaches.com great place for roaches -- I would get him over on these as a staple along w / the bsfl also known as nutri grubs on this site -- roaches can be kept in a 10 gallon aquarium feed dubia food along w/ carrots or squash for hydration do not feed the dragon carrots too much Vit A
www.aafeeder.com/feeder-worms/superworms/ this place has a bundle pack check it out you can get small super worms from here and feed 1-3 worms on top of the salad that also will get him to the salad bowl
www.mulberryfarms.com this place has nice worms but is spendy on shipping
www.reptilianarts.com great place for silk worms right now they dont have any smalls - so I would hold off for now getting him some --- they come small in bulk like 50 and w/ no food the cupped come w/ food but are bigger and he is too little right now to eat the bigger ones --
I am going to post a UVB website for you incase you have the coil -- this is for a 40+ gallon tank
https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/zoo-med-reptisun-t5-ho-terrarium-hood.html 24" fixture it comes w/ a 5.0 bulb it can be kept as a back up it is similar to a T 8 distance and placement would be different from the bulb I want you to get
https://www.pangeareptile.com/store/zoo-med-reptisun-10.0-uvb-t5.html 22" bulb
Please ask if you have any more questions
