Hyaluronic Acid for swollen gums?

I know this is a forum mainly for bearded dragons, but since chinese water dragons are pretty similar I don't think it matters for this particular question. My cwd has an inflammation in his gums, so I took him to a vet. He said that everything is fine and gave me some antibiotics for him, but he also told me to check whether it is safe to give a cwd Gengigel. The vet mainly sees cats and it is safe for them, but I couldn't find anything about it online. Gengigel is composed of Hyaluronic acid, Xylitol (a sugar alcohol used as a sweetener.), and excipients (natural or synthetic substances formulated alongside the active ingredient of a medication). Is it safe to use on him?

I don't know about this, do you have a local reptile vet office you can call and ask this question?

No. I don't. But that's a good idea! Is there a vet you recommend? I can try calling them.

I actually don't yet, but if you look online in your area you should be able to find one that you can call.

Thank, but I already have. There aren't any. I will try looking for a good one online even if it is overseas. I just wanted to know if you knew anyone. Thanks anyway.

I believe that Xylitol is poisonous for dogs.... I could swear I read that somewhere. Chlorohexadine would probably be a better option. It's used for mouth rot. Go to beardeddragon.co it's this great online store and they have medications. Look up chlorohexidine it will tell you what it's used for. I work in a dental office so it's something that we recommend to patients for sweeping of the gums.

Do they know why his gums are swollen?

I just checked. Xylitol is poisonous for dogs. Someone in another forum said that they would ask their vet for me. I don't know why his gums are swollen. The vet thinks he may have hurt himself while eating.

Something else that I read on another reptile forum. CWD are susceptible to stomatitis or mouth rot. Swollen gums could be a sign of it starting. Something called Nolvalsan was used which is Chrolohexadine.
