Hey Guys,
Just got 1000 Dubias from KFC Online, how do you suggest keeping them alive and ready to feed? What should I feed them? and what kind of storage?

Thx in Advance,
Steve

Keep them in a plastic storage bin, provide them some sort of heat source to keep it in the mid-80's. I blend a mix of greens, fruit, seeds, water and other things that are safe for them to eat and freeze it in ice cube trays, then thaw it out and put it in there with them every other day. You can also feed them dry mixes that contain things like chicken feed and fish food among other things. There are lots of recipes online. Provide them with water crystals or a wet sponge as a water source because they will drown in a bowl of water.

For heat you should use a heat mat or you could use a ceramic heat emitter if you set it up properly without melting the bin but heat tape or a heating pad is your best option.

How about a team gallon fish tank with lid, and heat lamp on top?

So this is what we setup, we have heat lamp over tank, no light, just heat bulb... Now what to feed, what to feed,
I put some of this in, what else??

If you take a look in the link below my comment on general care for 1st timers I've written up info on how to care for a Dubia colony it will give you all the info you would need.
The problem with those quenchers is it has added calcium in them ... what I do is I get the water crystals from lowes or home depot miracle grow is the brand.. all you do is add water.. You don't want too much calcium..
Just remember what you feed your dubia you will be feeding your beardie so make sure all is good..so leftover salad/greens, stems off of your collards..

What I would do is stack the egg flats on 1 end of your container standing them up so the frass (poop) falls to the bottom (make sure you leave the frass for them to eat and burrow in) and on the other end put lids to like mayo/peanut butter jars and put the crystals in 1 dry chow in 1 and your greens/veggies in another..if you leave the food on the egg flats they will get wet and can get moldy which will kill your colony

I have 4 tubs.. 1 is my breeder colony 1 are all my extra females 1 are all my males 1 is my nymphs.. I only want my breeders producing as I have soo many...so by separating them you can control that..I also will rotate out some adults to give them breaks or if a male looks beat up I'll change him out to let him re coup.

Oh man .... my breeders I've let go I likely have 40 females, and 15ish males. My all females 40 and counting as I'm adding female nymphs once identified. My all males around 20-30 and counting I move bigger nymphs into the all male tank to grow some to be separated. my all nymph tub thousands... lol
I started my main colony 9/15/15
