How To Breed Superworms/Mealworms?

I just have some questions on if I'm breeding my supers correctly. First of all, I chose 20 to start with, and put them all into different, small, empty, plastic cups. I then put them in a large bin in the closet. (they are still in separate plastic cups.) Afterwards, I placed a red light over them for heat. I then closed the doors so it's dark besides the light.
Does it sound like this will work? Is the light going to make it too bright for them? I have no other way to keep the heat up.
On to my mealworms. They are in a plastic container with "worm chow" and apple slices. Their temp is low 70's to mid 70's using a night-time blue/purple heat lamp. Does this sound like it will work?

I have 16 out of 21 that are pupating. The rest just won't change. I have 5 beetles so far. Hopefully more will change soon and some will be females!
I hope 16 will be enough to breed at least 250 worms! (A months supply.)
Does anyone know how to tell the
difference of a female and male superworm beetle?
