Just curious as to what temps your dragon likes to bask at.

I like to give my lizards a choice of the temps they can bask at, so what i do is provide multiple basking spots, some closer and others further away from the heat source. I have three basking spots.

Spot 1- On the lower level about 18" from the power sun, gets 96.4f the hottest,

spot 2- Rock leading up to the main basking area, gets 103f. anout 12-13" away from power sun.

spot 3- Black slate rock up off the ground about 9", and about 10 or 11" away from power sun. Gets 113f

I measure my temps with an infra red temp gun and acu rite indoor out door thermometer and zoo med digital probe thermometer.

For the most part i find my bearded dragon hige at the two hottest areas just basking away, he loves it hot, and he has the choice to bask at lower temps or go to my cool side where its 75f-80f. He loves the 113 spot and eve tries to get closer perching with the cactus next to the spot that gets him like a inch close.

My bearded dragon Tsume, likes it much cooler, he usually bask on his spot that gets in the high 90s. They have identical set ups.

So just wondering about your beardies?

Ahhh, seems these things really do change from dragon to dragon. My room temps stay around 80f and with my ac on its 70f. Now that the fall is coming and the temps are dropping my room will start to get much cooler.
