How frequently should a bearded dragon go to the bathroom?

Hello!........So.....this is a bit awkward to talk about but I've noticed that while my new bearded dragon is very healthy and a willing eater he doesn't seem to go to the bathroom all that often and I haven't noticed any droppings in a day or two. He eats like a horse so you expect there to be some quote on quote left behinds after a big meal but he seems to go every couple days at best. I'm still very new to dragons so Is this normal?

No worries every dragon is different .... mine poops every day. Some go a couple times a week some go once a week. longer if they are slowing down for brummation. I think the question would more be do you bathe him? how often? how much is he eating? if its not alot he wont poop alot..
Learning your dragon's habits will help ya.. My gal will only go in the sink in her bath she refuses to go in her tank.

my little boy poops fairly regularly - like Hdrydr31 said - when he's not brumating. daily, actually. My girl - ? not at all in her tank. once a week, usually - almost always if i soak her.

Mine poops daily and he's about 4-5 months old. He is more likely to poop when I put him in the tub because the warmth helps him push it out I guess. Try doing that!

Yep when my Izzy doesn't go in her bath (in the late morning cuz she's a morning pooper :) ) she will not go in her tank she will hold it until the next day.. for example I tried to get her to go this am she just played in the sink and soaked... I had to go to an appt, I tried again when I got home at 3pm and NOPE she wasn't having any of it she wanted out that was clear.. so out and dried and she is sound asleep...But I bet when I get her in the tub tomorrow am she will go right away.. lol silly things they are.

He actually went ON ME recently so maybe that does mean he wants to keep his tank tidy and not go in it. We'll he'll have to go sooner or later.

I guess I could try bathing him too but thing is right now he's a little velociraptor who is still socializing and If I try to take him out and but him in water he's going to hate me with a passion. Maybe I should wait a bit before doing so. In any case he can't hold in the nasty stuff forever.

Well mine used to freak out when I picked him up and put him in water too. He will still kind of try to get out of the tub but he got used to it after about three weeks. I used to bathe him in the sink but he likes the tub because he can move around. Maybe try the tub and put a rock in there so he can sit up on it if he wants to.

Izzy didn't like the sink at first she kept trying to run up the sides..I started her in the bathroom sink being small and only filled water just past her elbows..She would blow up like a balloon lol pretty funny kinda. But in time she started to learn that she could swim and now she loves the sink now the kitchen sink as she's 16" long and can get out of the bathroom sink.
Just take it in small times and keep your hand in there or put a rock like Tessa said that's a great idea.. I keep my hand in there and when she want's to get up she gets on my hand and hangs out then back into the water. lol I actually think it helps them go and it helps hydrate them and helps with shedding..

I put a resin log in the bath with them when we first started, it gave them a chance to get out of the water if they got to scared. Now they realized they can swim in the bath and walk around so they like it.

Dolly likes pooping on my carpet LOL! She does it and then looks at me like "I couldn't hold it" LOL! She usually goes every other day and they are HUGE I have no idea where she holds it all!

That's a great idea! But will the chlorine bother him? I know they can't drink chlorinated water.

Good point. I used to do that with my leopard gecko when he was shedding.

Well if that's the case then I'm sure mine is holding in a lot due to his daily Roman emperor feasts

I know it's pretty amazing... lol but then again some only poop 1 time a week ~~~~yikes~~~~

I saw a video of a very large male bearded dragon devour a live adult mouse like it was nothing. I'd be kind of scared to see the leftovers from THAT meal in the morning :).

The chlorine in the water isn't going to hurt them. We take baths in it and drink it and we are okay right. It's not an every day thing so it's okay. If you are worried you could put some Reptisafe in the bathwater. I use it for their drinking water.
