How could this happen?

A few days ago I lost my baby bearded dragon Mushu. I had him since Last summer and since then he had only grown about 1/8th of an inch. He also only had one shed. I know all his lighting, heat, and humidity were correct since I keep track of them constantly. I also had reptile carpet for him. He was eating crickets and veggies daily. About a week before he died he started losing interest in food but he continued to poop every other day. He seemed as active as he has always been. I came home to find him laying on the cool side of his cage not moving. I assumed he was cold and went to move him into the heat. When I picked him up I realized he was gone. My adult bearded dragon (who is housed separately) has been doing great. I've never had an issue with her and she is still acting like her normal self. I was wondering if anyone has had anything happen like this before or if I should be worried about my older Beardie at all. I just don't understand what could have happened to him.

So sorry for your loss. If heating and UVB was correct and he was still eating but not growing, that's usually a sign of internal parasites.
