My beardy had these dots appear on the lower belly and inner rear legs. I found a post on here that said they were called femoral pores and that they were normal. But the ones on my beardy seem to be growing ? it doesnt look normal to me .. does anybody know anything about this? Hes 4 years old and hes never bred could that have anything to do with it? if you have any answers to anything like this please let me know thanks

Could you post a clear picture of the area? To my knowledge, Femoral pores are generally on the inside of the back legs, not on the belly.

Yes, those are the Femoral Pores. They do appear a bit larger than most, did it possibly just come out of Brumation, or is it nearing spring where you are located? Might be enlarged because it's body is prepping for mating season, even though there may not be a female available.

well im in canada and the temperatures are starting to rise slowly since spring will be here in a month i think.. he had been seeming a little sleepier a lil while ago too but just napping a bit more than usual but no actual hybernating .. So is it going to go away by itself or should i be thinking of getting him a female friend?

I'm thinking that they will recede on their own in time. Getting a girlfriend for this reason, unless you are prepared for breeding and have the room & resources for 20-30 offspring & places to home them, is not necessary or a good plan in my opinion. Not directed at you, but there are already too many people Breeding just because they can, not because they should, resulting in too many ill care for, rehomed BDs.

I don't breed & would like to see an actual experienced breeder's input on this & what they think of the pics.

What part of Canada? I'm in Saskatoon, Sk.

yea i started thinking of one time when i went to a beardy breeders place and they had more than just a room of their house dedicated to them.. i dont have the space or the time for that many beardies so im happy he doesnt absolutely need a female friend and i hope they start going away soon even though they dot seem to bother him.. thanks for your input i feel a little relieved its at least kinda normal besides the size..
Im in quebec bordering ontario and its starting to warm up out here .. do you think since theres been more sun coming in that maybe it made him think spring was coming?

Yes, as the days get longer, it is quite possible & likely, it is sensing the season change.

huh...just thought I'd read up on this post, and noticed that my male beardy that is 2 and 1/2 has some small ones too! It's nearing spring time here, and I have a 3 month old female in another tank; perhaps he's sensing that.

Males have them all the time as they get older, most females too, but not as noticeable
