Hiding Beardie

Could anyone tell me the reason why a beardie would hide all day?

Here's the scenario. A few days ago, I got a new UVB bulb, hammock to hang in the corner of Allie's tank so she doesn't always lay on the floor while she basks. I've noticed that whenever I hang the hammock up and put a soft cloth on it, she'll go underneath it and hide for the whole day. I ended up taking the hammock out and putting white printing paper underneath her paper towels to keep the tank warm and she won't be lying on cold glass which she's been doing.

Her daily poops are normal. They don't smell up the whole house, which is good. I don't see anything odd about her poops. The urates are white...and mucus? Is it supposed to be yellow? No runny poop.

UVB Bulb: 10.0 Reptisun-from Petmountain.com
Multivitamin: Saturdays.
Calcium: Three or four times a day-light dusting of food and crixs.
100 watt CHE and 100 watt Basking Spot. (I'm thinking of upping the heat because we're running the room air conditioners now. Way hot outside.

She does go outside for about 15 minutes for sunlight since it's nice and hot. I also noticed that she also gets 'stress marks' sometimes when she's by herself, but brightens up when I take her out. She gets all happy.

How long has she been hiding? Are you using a different brand UVB then you were before? How close is she to the UVB? How is her activity? How much is she eating/day? What are the temps at basking and cool end? Just some info to help answer the question, although the information you provided is definitely helpful as well.

Since the 10th. Two days. The UVB's the same I used last time only newer. Six months replacement. She's active when I take her out of her tank, crawls around, shows interest in everything. She eats twice a day, all of her salad. One cut up turnip green leaf, spritzes of water, and a light dusting of calcium. 8-10 crickets dusted with calcium. (She refused crickets tonight. Turned her head away and ran away from them.) I haven't tested them yet. I'll have to test them tomorrow then. The UVB's also near her basking bulbs and she does use the highest point closest to it. I don't have any higher perches right now. The hammock was supposed to act like a perch.

It might just be a response to the changes in her environment, though only temporary. Give her a week and see if she doesn't start acting normally again.

Okay. Should I put the hammock back in tomorrow without the cloth?

You can try it. If it takes her longer then 10 days to start acting normal after the change then I would start to worry.

I put a hammock in my beardies viv and he could care less. He will go underneath it. I have even put him on the hammock and he just climbs off....go figure. I am going to put a soft cloth underneath and see what he does. I have a weird beardie. He doesn't act like other beardies I read about but I guess it is normal for him!! Good luck!!

My Dee loves his hammock :) catch him on it almost everyday! But my female Charlee like you said couldn't care less about a hammock so I gave it to Dee. Haha. Each beardie really has its own personality.

So maybe it's all the females. Maybe the males are all lounge lizards. Allie's particular in everything. Why, she's so active now that she's out, she's making it hard to type.

Castiel is a lounger, and she doesn't like her hammock too much. Even though it's a large she seems to struggle with it.
