Hi everyone, this is my gorgeous beardie Red (original I know) and we also have a Children's Python and Blue Tongue.
He's about 2.5 years old and has just gone into brumation for the first time! So I'm researching like crazy to do all the right things by him and came across this forum :)

Welcome to the forum!! Red is very handsome :) Brummation....different for all dragon's. If you haven't already take a look at the links below several of our comments 1 is a general care link we have posted information on all areas and that includes Brummation. I hope you find it helpful.

Being from Brisbane maybe you would be interested in sharing what salad items you have found that is available to you over there. If you would be interested in sharing with us as there has been interest in what items people have in there home area...Adding that into our general info section for food items.

Thank you! I'm having a good read now and feeling slightly less panicked haha. I cannot find collard or mustard greens in Australia which is frustrating and endives are rare. My boy normally gets figs as a treat as I've heard they're good for calcium, yellow button squash (butternut and spaghetti squash are hard to find here) strawberries, rocket (his fave), cherry tomatoes, apple, grapes, broccoli, blueberries etc. But all the reccomended greens are impossible to find. He gets a formulated beardy pellet to help with all his vitamins etc and calcium dusted crickets too :)

Glad you are less panicked lol just keep an eye on him and I suggest to weigh him regularly a healthy dragon shouldn't loose hardly any weight.. Offer salads even if he's out as you just never know he may wake up to eat then back to bed... offer bath time dribble water on nose...

Thank you on the food items I will start a list..

Thank you! He had a warm bath and belly rub last night as he hasn't pooped for a while (not really eating though either) and hated every second of it! Lol I'm keeping his food full, would you reccomend still offering crickets? They just eat his food and have a great old time in the tank until I pull them out haha. Any other food questions fire away, I work in a supermarket so have easy access to the info :)

Oh and be careful on tomatoes as they are acidic, broccoli is a rare to feed item (I use and go off of the lists in the link)
yea you can offer bug protein just make sure that if he eats he needs to bask under heat and uvb. and make sure you do take the crickets out they chew on sleeping dragons :( Some like bath time some don't lol but it gives a good opportunity for you to see if he'll drink..
Thank you that's great that you can get info on food items :) I'll make a note of that if we come up on things later lol

He is gorgeous! I think most of us now have experienced some form of brumation. My boy went to sleep for about a week I think in August/September. He woke up and then went back to sleep, he did this for a few weeks. My girl went to sleep a few months ago for 4 days then came out of her hide (when I bathed her) stayed awake for a few days then went back in her hide. She did this for awhile until I finally just took her hide completely out!

I find that when the weather changes they start start doing weird things. When it starts to get cold out they kinda get depressed.

This guy is doing my head in haha, he's gone a glorious shade of yellow and is munching on gut loaded crickets but still won't eat veggies and still no poop But I'll keep bathing and massaging!

:) They will do that! My female Izzy is having a "I don't want to eat anything Mom phase...." she is little over a year.. My suggestion on the no pooping still would be the canned pure pumpkin, a drop or 2 of olive oil, baby food all natural if possible prunes, massages, little hotter bath water?

No I just had a look and it's all got beef or potato/sweet potato combination. Some with apple and cinnamon etc.

All three pets that you mentioned are native to Australia. Are they wild caught or captive bred? I would love to see a picture of your blue tongue. I had one twenty years ago and it was a cool pet. Really like the shingle backs too.
