hi there BDF my name is Nic i am a fairly new bearded dragon owner this is my 2nd attempt at raising these lil guys, my first beardie i had to rehome due to some unexpected events that took place and now im onto number 2. i just rescued this little guy from a very unfortunate situation seemed like the previous owners spent no time with him or even took care of the lil guy. cage was full of dead uneaten crickets, poop everywhere, he seems really aggressive does not like my hands being anywhere near him. but im hoping with constant interaction he will get better! But while im at it and introducing this lil guy i was also wondering, through some research it seems like this guy is not a standard bearded dragon and i was wondering if anyone can tell me if he is some type of color morph or what kind of bearded dragon he is? not extemely knowledgable but am looking to learn any input would be great thank you!

He looks like a pretty good looking beardie. Since he wasn't cared for very well from his previous owners, he's going to be a little scared of you. If he's going after your hands or aggressiveness that's a defense mechanism. There's some ways to get him used to you is to put something of yours into the tank so he'll recognize your scent. (Can be an old shirt you wore and it still has your scent on it.) When he learns to trust you, he'll let you do anything with him. Just give him some time to get used to his new surroundings.

I'm glad you rescued him and gave him a new outlook on life. I rescued Allie from an owner that only fed her crickets every day. When I read up on how to care for her, I found she eats more than 'just' crickets. Now she eats healthier and is showing her lovely colors of orange, gold, and white. I'm not sure of her breeder and who her parents were and everyone who sees her out in public wonder where I got her. (I know she's not a petsmart or a petco bearded dragon because I've been told that all they get are the brown and tan beardies.

thank you Noella im going to try that idea out it seems to be getting better im trying to give it some time to readjust to its surroundings right now all he had in the tank was a water bowl nothing else not even a place to bask on!! so we went out and bought him some little knick knacks and got him settled in but im sure its new to it so i dont wanna add additional stress by always putting my hand in there so i am giving him a couple days then gonna go back at it! but i will add a shirt or something in there!

Well that is wonderful to hear about Allie i also think my lil guy was probably fed the same thing all day as well. im hoping i have a success story just like yours :)
